Who is making a big fuel tank for an 80? I know there are some impossible to get transfer tanks, but is anyone making a large tank conversion? I have a big hole where my spare tire used to be. I am tired of the s***ty range on the stock tank with 10mpg. I only see 200 miles before my light comes on.

I know in my 55 I had a 40 gal tank and it sucked at the pump but was great, I very rarely had to worry about range. I would be very happy with 30-35 gals. aluminum tank.

Ahhhmmmm maybe Profits could make it happen? Beno maybe flip to the end of your to-do and add this? lol.

Dont know what shipping would be worth. But we throw reserve tanks away here. Any lpg install places usually have a few laying around.

I have always thought why not just one large tank to take away all the extra work involved in installing the aux tanks.

The Man-a-Fre tanks look great but at $1,000 + that is pretty steap, but a good option. Someday.

I may be talking out of school here but I would think if you saved up a bunch and shipped them all at the same time might be able to make a buck or two and help some people out over here.

I am thinking that we would need all the other bits and pieces to go with the tanks as well.

Cheapest solution is a pair of jerry cans on the back.

Otherwise I thought Equipt offered a larger than stock fuel tank but I could not find it on the site. Call Paul and ask. I want to say he has something like a 70gal  capacity in his 100 series.

OEM transfer tank form AU is probably the next best option if you can source one. But its a lot of work for not much fuel.

They are all usually complete. Sending unit, wiring and plug. Cant see the wirring harness's being any different. The only bits you will need extra would be overhead console gauge, reserve fuel switch, and filler flap.

Unfortunately, building a rear fuel tank is the easy part. It's the dual filler nozzle that's tricky. If we had a good source for them, aux fuel tanks would be a lot more doable.

This option too: http://www.campinglab.com/fueltank.html

I had a transfer tank in my 40 from Conifer. It was nice to have the extra 22gal but I did not like the process of transferring it from one tank to the other.

The 70 series I rented in AU had two 90 liter that supplied the engine directly and could be changed on the fly. That was a much nicer set up. If I were to put in a 2nd tank I'd want it plumbed directly to the engine personally.

That is more like what I am looking for. A single tank solution, centered in the rear of the vehicle. That one might be a little deep, I guess I just need to get under the truck and take a look. The only problem is that that big tank only replaces the sub tank and still assumes that you have the stock tank in place.

Maybe a transfer tank is the right way to go? you wouldn't have to deal with lengthening fuel lines, vents, new pump, pickup, fuel level sending unit, etc.

Just kind of talking out loud here. I know that 5 gallon cans are going to be the default method, but I would just prefer to have the gas in the tank. ha.

They all come with dual tanks as standard. The 75 series had a drain system, where pushing the reserve tank would open a fuel solinoid and pump it into the main tank. The 80 series drinks from each tank directly.

How many do you want Tim? They are easier to find than the tanks. Noone has any need for them here.

AFAIK, the diesel 80 pumps from either tank to the engine (along with returns). The petrol 80 (all that was available in the US) uses a transfer pump scheme and fuel to the engine is only pumped/returned from the main tank

cheers,
george.

Well there's obviously a market there for it. Would be great for a full bolt in kit. Could clean the tank out and while split put all the bits inside in :). No idea what freight would be worth.
