I got ahold of LandCruiserSteve and he is sending the door pillar pieces to me. :grinpimp:

LandCruiserSteve?? Never heard of the guy. ;)

Hey Joe, my apologies on the delay getting those pillar pieces out to you. :o They're all packaged up and ready to hit the mail Monday morning.

And, to the rest of my fellow 25'ers, Happy Thanksgiving!!

I really miss you not being around here anymore Steve. That's not just because it makes me the oldest one here. I noticed you drop of the FJ Cruiser group too. I hope it wasn't because you now own a new rover. Your not the only old timer who not around much anymore either.:hhmm:

Happy Thanksgiving to the rest of you guys.

So who up for Moab in 09?

Got one quote so far, but it doesn't sound too bad...Much better than what SOR used to carry them for...

The seal would be extruded from 60 durometer EPDM. Cost for an order of 25' (enough for two complete doors) would be about $75. This would include packaging and shipping to anywhere in lower 48. Larger quantities would be a little cheaper rate since shipping wouldn't be that much more...I'd Like to keep the orders to increments of 25',if possible, since the material will come in 50' coils.

If I could get enough interest to fill 10 orders, I'll get the ball rolling on production. It will take 4-5 weeks to make the tooling and get a sample, then two weeks for production once the sample is approved. When I get the sample, I'll post pics so you guys can comment before we move to final production.

It will take some time, but my doors haven't had a new seal in 45 years, so a couple of months wont hurt....

I'm in for a 50' roll.

Mike

No rush for me, as the Cruiser is now under snow, but I'm in for a 25' roll shipped to Montreal. I might take a second 25' once I get to work with the first set.

Thanks for making the effort on this.

While looking at a really run down local '65, I noticed that the seals on both sides were different than mine. Anyone have a good picture of what these should look like?

Thanks

Thanks for all of the interest. We definitly have enough to make a go of it. I requested that work start on the tooling and sample. I hope to have the sample in about a month. I'll post some pictures of the sample when I get it. Hopefully we get a good sample on the first shot....

Just wanted to let you guys know that I haven't forgot about you. Still waiting on the sample. It should be here any day. If I don't get it sometime next week, I'll check back with the extruder and provide another update.

Production of the die has been running behind schedule. Latest update is that the sample will be shipped out at the end of next week. Based on that, I should be able to have pictures showing the fit within 1-2 weeks from today. Sorry this is taking so long. Hopefully it's worth the wait!

I looked at a relatively nice '66 FJ40 today. It had the corrugated top with bi-fold doors (did some 66's come with the corrugated top?). The guy is asking $1200 for it. Thinking about offering him a llittle less since I don't need very much from it. I'm interested in the frame, wheels, hubcaps, fenders and hardtop. The tub is rough, but there are some good pieces in it. If any of you are interested in particular parts, it might make my decision to purchase easier (that is, easier to convince my wife!) if I cold sell off a few parts that I don't need. I do have some pictures, so if there is something you'd like to see, let me know.

Check the vin number...if it has no number before the F, then it's most likely a '65 titled as a '66. You have any pictures?

I have some pictures that a buddy sent to me. Unfortunately, none of the pictures that I have show the VIN clearly. I looked at the VIN while looking over the vehicle and i'm pretty sure that there were no numbers before the F. I did notice that there wasn't the round brass tag attached that said "T-66" but it's possible that the tag was lost somewhere along the line...The owner had a current title for the vehicle and it is titled a 66.

The owner said the engine was replaced by the previous owner. It has the F-145 engine. Engine ran great. Clutch wouldn't operate, didn't have time to investigate why, but I'm sure it's an easy fix. Might consider buying it as a driver while I work on my '64 rebuild....

Here is a pic of the cruiser. I do have some others, so if there is a view you'd like to see, just let me know....

with that windshield frame it has to be a 65' since it has the vent in it and I believe that was only offered through 65

but for 1200 bucks don't think you can go wrong with that one
