I'm looking for advice for a phone mount for my 80. I've gone through a few with little success. I'd like something that's strong enough to hold a large phone and can withstand the trail. A buddy of mine is using the Mob Armor system, which attaches a metal disc to the dash with strong adhesive. That seems like a good option, but I want it to be removable with no damage to the dash. Any particular experience with a system that adheres a metal disc to the dash which is both strong enough for the trail and can be removed without damaging the dash pad?
Suggestions? Thanks!

Put the ram mount on a 3d printed adapter like this.

I have this one and it does not want come off, pretty sturdy. Put it on the lower windshield corner driverside and the phone is in a pretty good spot right above the ac vent

I'm against sticking putting anything on the dash they'll always leave some sort of residue behind
I have something similar and works well for me too.. though I've never taken it off-road for a real test.

Another vote for RAM mounts. I've got one of their X-grip mounts that I originally bought for motorcycling. I've got the little ball portion mounted in both the cruiser and on the bike (useless cubby adapter in the cruiser), and the X-grip and arm just move to whichever vehicle needs it at the moment. It has never failed to hold my phone in either case.

Thanks for your suggestions, fellas.

Look up Quad Lock. It's not vehicle specific, and a lot of YouTube'ers use it to make videos inside thier vehicles.

This is the correct answer. Quad lock is hands down the best, durable case/mount combo. It locks in, magnetic charging etc. they are having a Black Friday sale now.

If you want to get fancy, you can do the holy trinity of phone mounts. Ram Mounts ball + arm, pro clip base, quad lock mount.

I have a pro clip base + quad lock mount in every vehicle I own. I will die on this hill.

Before Quad Lock I had ProClip, but ProClip stopped making the mounts to support older LCs.
I have the quad lock mounted to the pro clip base in my 200 and in my wife’s Yukon. It’s phone mount nirvana.

For my 80s and 62, im still playing with the perfect position for me, but ram mount + quad lock is in the lead.

Plus I have the quad lock mounts on both my mountain and road bikes so my phone snaps right on the bars and locks in!

Thanks, guys. I appreciate all the suggestions.

that's the perfect location.

The Ram mount magnetic pad holds the phone in all conditions but I may look at quad lock.
this is the way. Ram mount = zero locks, quad lock = FOUR locks.

mic drop.
