Best manual (3 Viewers)

Toyota is in the process of changing how you buy manuals. I called today & was redirected to Helm Inc. I called Helm & they couldn't provide the manuals saying none existed. Called Toyota back & was told the transfer isn't yet complete - new partnership.

Anyway, manuals are now to be purchased from Helm Inc at 800-782-4356. Transfer should be complete in a few weeks.

I'm searching for an FSM.

Just called Helm, they didn't have a manual for 1976 FJ40 body and Chassis...

online at Helminc.com they only go back to '81...

I tried Toyota Publications about 2-3 months ago, and they said it was on backorder, then a few weeks later told me that it wasn't available anymore.

I tried ordering one from CCOT, but got a response that it is on backorder...

Are there any other options out there? Is there still an electronic version floating around?

Looks like the FSMs are now on Helm for older years. They show two for 1978 with the same name. RM98126 and RM98139. Anyone know the difference? $70 each

Part numbers with descriptions are listed in post #12, although I am wondering if the emissions is actually 98139 instead of 98159.

I just checked www.Helminc.com and found 2 different catalog #s listed for my 81 search.

Then I used Google to figure out which was which. Just thought I would share what I found.

John Hocker Parts Manager at Sierra Toyota (Sierra Vista, AZ) was able to determine which manual is which:

RM98126: 2F engine manual (75-80)

98154: Chassis and body manual (75-80)

RM98344: Chassis and body supplement (79-80)

I got the FSM Body & Chassis for my 1970 FJ40 from FJParts. It states that it is a re-print of the Toyota FSM. I hope some other manuals have MUCH better body as the one I have is very poor to say the least. The engine manuals are available online for a very reasonable price. I did that first, however, while it state it included my body manual it did not and only went back to around 1980 or so.
