Classic Cruiser's seat bracket extension kit. About $60 and well worth the money

And the CruiserCrap bottle opener, a must for the non-twist off caps:beer: All I have to do is make one of those little botle cap catchers and I'll be set.

I once installed a switch on the ground for a diesel fuel solenoid on a LULL left out in a bad area. just opened the switch when done--a lot of people might think to run a hot wire but who would run a ground also hid the swich under the operators seat but still easy to reach

maybe could do the same on the - side of the coil to a switch or a c/b in the cab?

Toy Yoda

Velcroed a 3" green plastic Yoda to the dash. Son loves it and turns it to face him when we go on a drive. Twenty cents for the velcro, $2 for the toy Yoda, a ride on warm sunny day with your 8 year old.............. Priceless.:)

New rear sill made at my local metal shop. 14 for the cover piece, I think around 20 for the other.. Best cheap mod so far for me..

You guys should post pics with your mods so we can see the quality work...

Free bucket seats for an fj-55.

Yes, you are right, pictures tell it all. Man, cheap mods? Don't know where to start! The aluminum bumpers were $50, bunch others. This one is my favorite. Added comfort, custom fit, and look, warmth from the second heater now rises straight up, nice! Best of all the mod. was free! Old car top bike mount bars, Yakima roof hooks bolted to the floor to form a brace and Gm bucket seats.

What's the part# for the LED instrument lights? I can hardly see mine at night.

Locking center console/drink holder from Pep Boys. Was about $40 bucks (10-28-07 not sure if they still sell now) but it beats paying $250 for the Tuffy one. It's plastic and definitely could be stolen but it's great if you aren't leaving your car on the street for long stretches. The console fits really tight between the front seats (didn't think it would fit at first) over the small 40 console without removing. It is also pretty long so it provides people in the back jump seats with cup holders as well...basically rests just on top of the rear heater....probably wouldn't work if you live in Montana or someplace cold but don't really need it here in So Cal. It is the perfect height for a really comfy arm rest and is great to throw valuables and stereo in for short trips without having to lock the whole truck up. I drilled some holes in the bottom of mine and attached it to the front seat frames with some wire....it looks like the thing was made specifically for the truck.

I would have to say taking out my front heater box, cleaning and respraying it. Also flushing that front heater core. All was well and the heater was hot until the gunk finally gave way and coolant spilled in my cab. Lesson learned and newer core was bought all for around $50.

I just finished my power steering conversion and as a final touch while I had the bib off I decided it was the right time to finally do the old powering the headlights off of relays mod that has been posted here on mud.
I was blown away with how good my lights work now, and I'm still using standard Sylvania H6042 lamps. I was going to go with the Silverstars but now I don't see an immediate need for them, maybe I'll get them down the road.

Price list:
40 amp relay 2 qty, one for high beam, one for low, $9 each at Napa.
30 amp circuit breaker $4 at Autozone.
High heat resistent headlight connectors $9 at Autozone. I got these in case I want to use different lights later on.
Wire and Misc. connectors ~ $10.

I would have honestly say that my high beams damn near rival the Warn rectangular off road lights that I used to have.

My 41 year old wire harness from about mid fender forward was in bad shape, literally disintegrating, and was a total clusterf**k. I don't even know how my turn signals were still working. Right turn + wire had one strand of the copper wire providing power:doh: The grommets on the fenders for the turns were decayed and split, hence the reason for the turn wires being sliced and diced.

So this project added another night to to the steering conversion but it was worth it. The lights work ridiculously good, and I lessened the risk of the 40 being a electrical fire hazard - priceless

Cut shift gate to allow 2-low

By cutting the shift gate for the transfer case to make a square it allows for 2-low.

By cutting the shift gate for the transfer case to make a square it allows for 2-low.

is there any way to do the same mod to an early TC?

Re cutting gate on early cruiser

It was easy on my 74... dont know about 67.

cutting transfer shift gate, super extended shackles. long travel shocks. rear shock through the floor. bike brake lever for hand throttle. swap meet stereo system. seats. moving battery to the back. marlin crawler front axle gussets. rock lights. the list goes on for days. im a student so every mod is a cheap mod, i dont have a choice. oh and the fj-60 tranny and split case was a big improvement.

Thought I might add my free hi lift mount. The leather is from an old belt and there to keep from having rattles. The stainless bolts were left over from my dirt bike rear fender. It will be a little bit of a pain to unbolt on the trail, but hopefully it will be less likely to get stolen while I'm at work.

Under 50....49.99 on sale at Harbor Freight. Portable air compressor mounted to inner fenderwell. Might take a little longer to air back up compared to an ARB or Powertank system, but taking a little more time to air up is better than the hundred to hundreds of dollars for the better systems.(I don't have any air tools, so no worries for me on that) Mounted on passenger fenderwell, may have to relocate a few things, but a little drill work and wire work is fun right, especially for a cheap under the hood air compressor.

4" conduit collar with old speaker magnet in bottom, you can move your drink holder anywhere. streetbike blinkers from a yamaha fzr 750, rubber "stalks" allow for repeated contact with the elements without any breakage they just move themselves out of the way ! !
