There looks to be a nice 86 4cyl 5spd rig near me on eldoarkclassifides. Kinda high but looks nice. What is your budget for this truck (probably in here somewhere but I have not read the whole thing yet:( )

I saw that. looks real nice but its a regular cab.

drove this just now: 1985 Toyota 4 Runner 4x4 22RE

Was priced high, which resonates with Jordans comments above. Noiser than my 60. Seemed a little shabby inside for what he is asking. Thanks for all the input.
What did you think of the auto?

I'm sure you're aware, but you have to keep in mind that the Land Cruiser was and still is the top-notch SUV that Toyota offered. The 4Runner was and still is a mid-grade offering. 4Runners and mini-trucks are smaller, lighter, usually cheaper and less powerful than a similar LC. But, they make great little gas-sippers that'll haul a bunch of stuff and still offer Toyota quality and long life.

Hope it is clean....the Nissan at the Porsche dealer is an 84 with 37k miles..the cleanest 84 you will ever see...13,977...

question for Jordan or anyone else with experience driving these: How is there exceleration for freeway driving? Remember this question is coming from someone who has driven an f60 across the country and back more than once so I am familiar with sluggish. Are there any engine mods which can help with speed bursts? Any other questions y'all think I should ask the guy would be helpful.

Ask for receipts. Ask for documentation. Look at all the fluids. Ask about the rebuild on the engine. If done right, that's a great find for you. That engine will go another 200K on a rebuild or more IF DONE RIGHT.

These things are probably even more underpowered than your 60-series. There is no cheap or easy performance mods that I know. Quickest / cheapest is a camshaft swap, but that's still not easy, especially if you accidentally get to replace the head gasket.

They will accelerate, but they won't pass much.

thanks. Is there a point in the generations where they get a little more acceleration?

My carburated 86 22r would run circles around my 93 22re. Both were slow but the manual tranny helped with that. My Step Dads 86 4 runner auto was the biggest dog I have ever driven.
