help

I boogered up the threads on one of the 4 bolts on the top of the knuckle where the steering arm bolts on. Its just the top couple of threads that wont catch. If I can get it on even a little, I believe the threads will take shape again through the motion of the nut going on.

Any suggestions on fixing threads?

I could be wrong but I think that is a stud so if you can back stud out and tread nut from bottom and work it all the way down...if it has threads the whole stud.

But I am banking that I am wrong...so run to harbor freight to get a cheap tap and die set..and chase the threads.

I am at the point in reassembly of the drivers side knuckle of reinstalling the locking hub assembly. The first part of the hub ought to just slide over the axle and onto the bolts, ready to be bolted down. For some reason the splines will not line up. I have tried both hubs, niether goes on. Both will slide right on to the other side (still awaiting installation). Have I or the previous owner damaged the splines? What could be causing this?

Didn't follow your question Barry. Post a pic to help me understand the question.

Does the gear inside the hub match the splines on the axle shaft where it stubs out of the spindle?

the spindle stub won't go into the hub. The hub slides easily onto the axle on the other side. I assume its the same type of axle.

The hub won't even start to go on the birfield? Look at the splines on the birfield. Make sure none are boogered up. If so, take a file and try to make them work. If the hub works on the other side, that tells me it's likely something wrong with that side birfield's splines.
