My buddy with the Colorado just told me that he can't make it but he also told me that most of the US teams are boycotting the Baja 250. Teams such as Robbie Gordon, McMillian's, & Terrible Hurst.
Wondering if anyone else has heard this, I haven't had time to research.

Whoa that's crazy. I haven't heard that either.

Hey Mark, you buddy is simply wrong, i frequent race-dezert.com and read up on all the goings on, there is ZERO talk of a huge boycott, etc... Andy Mcmillin said he might not make it because his new TT wouldnt be ready, and the whole thing snowballed into a i hate mexico rant. It just a bunch of whiners and rumors. I can almost assure you all the big names will be there, they basically have to or their huge sponsors would probably drop them! :D

I haven't had time to research.

When ya do: race-dezert.com

Rock On!

Yeah, I called my buddy who pits for MasterCraft and he told me the same as you posted. I guess Terrible Herbst is also not going to have their new buggy or truggy ready and that's why they aren't going.
Race Dezert was also his recommendation and I will be checking it out at lunch.
By the way I have the course map that I can e-mail if you want. I would not recommend going to Score-international.com due to virus problems. Just PM me your e-mail if you want the map.

Well, I finally took the time to play with googl maps online to create my profile and set-up the locations for the Baja 250. It was very easy, since I spent my lunch yesterday picking the locations to watch the race from. So attached is the map of camp, and the two places we will be watching the race at in the beginning (RM 18) and in the end (RM 220). GOOGLE MAP LINK

From Monday in Brawley.. they had both trucks.. dakar hummer rig and the trophy truck.

Wow

Looks like its official now, the McMillins are NOT doing the SF250

This is sure going to be a nice slap upside the head for a lot of folks (promoters) to get their head out of their arse and start doing more to protect the racers!

good luck SF250 participants - race-dezert.com

I know there are two good runs this month, Steve's Truck Haven run this weekend and the Meet & Greet on the 22nd. But if anyone can't make those and wants to get the truck dirty you are more than welcome to join me across the border in San Felipe 3/14-16. I am considering driving the 40 or so miles of dry lake bed past Guadalupe Canyon to Tecate on the way home. It gets pretty regular traffic so I will probably do this even if I do end up going solo.
I gotta tell you that if you have never been to a SCORE Baja race that the 250 is very spectator friendly especially on the San Felipe side. We will be able to see these 700 hp trophy trucks go by twice. Heck last year we were able to get our hands a little dirty and help the Red H2 get back going and win his division. OK so my buddy's got their hands real dirty, I just took off the light covers for the remainder of the race. :D

Well, I will be sure to have a Cerveza for all of you! I gotta tighten up a few things on my truck and when my buddy gets off work at noon we are OUT! If anyone ends up going down the plan is to watch the race from (RM 18) and (RM 220).

Struck with the dreaded ENGINE LIGHT a half hour ago.... BTW Auto Zone just asks for a Drivers License and credit card and they hand over the scanner. It's the damn P0401 code insufficient flow or something like that. I have subscribed to the thread and will read it when I get back. OFF to Baja.........:beer::beer:

p0401 egr insufficient flow.............

I have a 1998 Avalon that has the same code right now...... Just drive it till ya need to smog it and fix/clean out the egr valve or some of the egr ports might be clogged..... Have fun in baja and take lots of pics!

Anyone hear from Mark?

He make it back ok? Scary to hear someone heading to Mex with an engine light on!

Never Worry Never Fear! I am driving a Cruiser Man!!! But thanks for worrying about me. :o

Not only did I drive to Baja but on the way back I tried to find the dirt road that takes you to Felipe from Hwy 5 to the Toll Rd. that runs between Tecate and Mexicali. When I went to Guadalup Canyon 10 months ago I heard about the Rd. and we saw a few people in cars on the dry lake bed so I thought it would be NO BIG DEAL!!! Famous last works right? Well after 2hrs of all kinds of terrain from sand to the hardest rocky ground I have ever seen and not another soul in sight we finally hit the dry lake bed. Although this was the second lake bed for us, this one had a nicely graded path straight out E. that we finally realized the cars must take and it was proven when two locals came down past us as we ate lunch. So from that point it was pretty smooth sailing and very nice to be averaging 50 mph on the lake bed after averaging 15 mph for 2 hrs.
Now add that 3hr. side trip with a 1hr & 45 min. screw-up just outside of Felipe where we didn't know how to read the Baja Almanac correctly, a 2hr 15 min. border wait and my total trip yesterday was 12hrs. With a grand total of 640 miles round trip, and came us just 40 miles short of 150,000 miles on the cruiser. I would have loved to hit 150K on the dry lake bed but unfortunately I will be coming home from WORK  tomorrow when the ticker hits the mile stone.

Well that is a really wordy summery of Baja this weekend that would have been the perfect trip minus a two day headache, major wind Saturday night, and a few decisions yesterday that would have shortened our day by 3hrs.

AND VIVA BAJA!

Mark,.... did you

see them arrest the Arellano cartel member "El ciego' ? The U/T says he was a driver in the race!!!
