Any one get some bad Arco gas lately???
I did and got a nice check engine light with code 26 in my 94, about 3 days ago..
My friend with a 93 got the same thing that night from the same gas station.. then the next day he got a check engine light in his jeep from the same gas station..

any one else??

Yep I avoid arco like the plague!

Arco sucks!

I aslo had my debit card number and pin number stolen when I used an Arco. The thieves had set up a camera to get the pin numbers, and had their own card reader glued over the existing card reader. So when you dipped your card, it passed through the theives reader. They duplicated my card and went to Vegas. They bought a $1,600 TV at Walmart, and withdrew $2,400 in cash withdrawls from my account. I got the money back from my bank, but I had to wait about a month before it was placed back in my account.

The problem with Arco's is they have a central pay station, and they only accept debit cards, no credit cards. That's just an invitation to scam artists to set up their little wifi card skimmers and cameras. They sit around the corner with a laptop, and gather card and pin info for everyone that buys gas.

yea I know Arco gas...But the price was 3.77...now I know why...lol
After a good tank of chevron, the light went away and so did the problems...

Chevron with Techron is all I run in my Cruisers. This was due to some advice I got from the guys at Yota Master's. Techron is great for cleaning out your injection system. You can also buy it in bottle form from any auto parts store. I have a Chevron station right by my house that gets a ton of use, (fresh gas). It also has some of the cheapest gas around. I hate ARCO with a passion, mostly due to their shady business model. They don't take a credit card and want to charge me for using my debt card. I always use my debt card as a credit card, that way my credit union makes a little money. I also never feel comfortable punching my pin code in anywhere for the reasons Braden mentioned above. Also WTF ARCO when I use a debt card the transaction fee is a lot less then the 2% for a credit card. In most cases less then 10 cents per transaction, so ARCO why are you hitting me for 50 cent transaction charge? Also the pricing they post on the sign outside is for cash only, deceptive no less. Filling you car up with cash is a pain in the ass two times in and out, screw that.

I run Arco in all my vehicles. Toyotas are designed to run in the 3rd world on 3rd world gas. Arco is premium compared to what they're designed for.

What do you guys feel about Costco gas? Mo' Betta? Or is Chevron the one?

I see no reason why Costco’s gas would not be fine. I think gas is gas makes no real difference. The only thing that really matters is that it’s fresh and stored in a clean tank. Any big gas station chain that gets a lot of business should be fine.

I use Costco gas 99% of the time and have never had issues. Have you seenthe lines this place gets new gas all the time! Only downsides are that AMEX is the only CC used or Debit card and again have you seen the lines! Go in the mornings to avoid the lines.

Costco gas here for quite awhile now w/o any issues in any of the family cars/truck. Wife has a high performance Z - no issues. Besides - it's always $.09-$.12 on average cheaper than any of the stations in my area too. Agree with the comment about no issues on fresh gas. They go thru it like a wildfire thru dry grass, then some!

When I have used Arco gas I go through it like water. Not sure why. Chevron or 76 for since they are on each end my commute. Sometimes Shell.

I don't believe any of this. Gas is gas. Buy the cheapest. These trucks are made to run and run and run. Like the other poster said, in 3rd world countries. I have never had any problems with Arco. I would say you should take a closer look at your truck, I am guessing it is an issue with your car not the gas.

Just a thought- was there a tanker there at the time of fill up?

I make it a point to never buy gas when they are filling up the tanks- a lot of sediment gets stirred up and it can make its way into your tank.

Isn't this why we have fuel filters? My last tank was bought at an independent while the fuel truck was there and my LC is running fine. I suppose it's possible to get bad gas, but highly doubt it in today's day and age. ARCO can't afford to sell bad gas. I buy wherever is closest and cheap (be it name brand or independent) and have never had an issue (both in the LC and Merc).

Yes but sediment in fuel filters is what causes issues. Google bad gasoline, it happens all the time.

There are only a few refineries and only the big companies have there own (Shell, BP, Chevron, Conoco, Exxon, etc.). If you are really getting bad gas, it is probably from contanimation during storage or delivery. I buy lowest octane and lowest price, but don't buy Arco because they don't take credit cards. Never had a problem (knock on wood...).
