Just finished high elevation endurance run. Had finished some fine tuning and wanted to see how it performed on an extended – high millage road and trail run. Total of 612 miles from Chandler up to 9,500ft (on .112 – .200 jets!!!) with no real problems except for wipers and head lights failing. Could of attempted field repair, but did not need either so lived with out them for a few days. Truck ran great, but did need to “feather” the accelerator a bit to idle at >8,000ft) Will post in three threads to get the photos in order.
Day 1 Left Sunday afternoon from Chandler, drove through Payson up Rim ( pic 1) then Pinetop gas stop and made camp 1 at Burro Mt 9,400 ft between Big Lake and Sunrise ski hill
Day 2 drove through high country forest taking many dead ends. Saw lots of Turkey, elk and mule dear, including one heard of 50-75 Elk Cows and Calves that ran right in front of me on the road ( see foot prints – looks like an army went through). Drove up to Reno Look out, on to Hannigan meadows, then Alpine for gas, then 249 to big lake.
Camp 2 between Alpine and Big Lake off of 249
Day 3 Fished and saw sights along the way home – hard to head sought from Payson
