That looks nice but HEAVY! Any idea what the total weight was with the skid plate added?

I do not know the added weight, but I’m guessing around 35-40. Not sure. It’s just the bottom facing material...

Had I known how tucked the 24 is on my truck and Slee rear...I might have skipped it...but a 49 is definitely susceptible to contact compared to mine, so probably a good thing to plate it. VH did a fantastic weld job on mine & it looks like it came that way...but all VH on the plate.

If I ever do manage to smash a boulder into it (I whack everything else!)...I’m confidence it will handle it without flinching.

Nice, Kamal.
Here is a photo of the bottom of mine after VH welded steel and painted. You can see the circle cutouts which allowed welding throughout the surface rather than just the edges:

Always amazed at your home-made stuff...so tipping hat to you on this one., as well. Are you going with the faster pump?
Mark, Thanks. I may initially install the supplied pump and swap it later with a faster one. I will discuss that with Georg. 40 Gallon Definitely needs the skid plate. I already have OME 2723 springs in back and we shall see how they behave with extra weight.

I have a set of OME 2724 springs laying around if the 2723's aren't enough for the added weight. Let me know.

I’m back on 2724’s and very happy...but I’m also really heavy. Good opportunity for a wait and see.

Don’t give them away. I may need them. :)

Heh... Just realized his 24’s used to be MY 24’s. :)
I ended up buying 24’s AGAIN before Cruise Moab when I decided to go back to my pre-tank springs. Guess I should have checked with dc before ordering more...

Keepin’ ‘em in the family! :hillbilly:

I think my 24s and 25s may still be in Stockton if needed.

I have an extra set of 25's and TTs... (no, not titties. I'm fat, but not that bad yet :) )

I am about 600# extra weight than factory. What is recommended rate for that weight? 600# shared by two springs about 300# each for static condition and then some factor when it leans around curves. I don’t want any extra lift than my current height due to garage clearance.

You might actually find these TTS work for you. I was just too heavy for them for my driving style (specifically higher speed desert stuff). My truck is a fat pig, so I wanted more stiffness in turns. If it’s ever convenient, you could give em a try.

I feel like they fall somewhere close to 2723’s, but with easier spring compression over longer over-all dprings. They partially/almost stack near the top by design. I think I’d like a similar spring if it was just a bit heavier for my truck’s fat backside.

I had 24’s before my tank went in. Wrongly assumed I needed to bump up to 25’s with an armored tank and 24 additional gallons...but I was wrong. 24’s it is.

About height... The TTS sat lower at rest than 24’s under the same weight in my case...but that might differ in your lighter setup.

LOL, sorry Mark, didn't know you were looking for a set, ie. your old set! :)

Heh... ;) Just funny how many items get passed around on mud. Springs don’t break the bank like so many other items can.

Very true! I hope all is well, cheers man! 🍻

Picked up tank, fabbed skid plate, welded and painted.

Very nice. I decided to go with the 12.5 for right now. Down the road I might switch to the Kaymar and 24 or 40 gal tank.

Been following your build... love seeing someone just jump in and fab up their own bumper WITH swing outs and it turn out as awesome as yours did.

I think my 40gal tank is somewhere between here and Australia right now but should be in the states within the next 2 weeks. Interested to see how the install goes and to maybe see some pics of how it sits up in there once it's all buttoned up.

Quick question for all you experienced guys... I see lots of people doing the Tundra front control arm, etc swap.... But haven't seen anyone explain exactly what the benefits and possible downsides are. Just beefier or what?

Keep up the good work @Atwalz !!!

Basically gets you a wider stance without wheel spacers...and helps avoid contact with swaybars when running larger tires...and helps keep the stance wider post-lift compared to LC front-end suspension upgrades. Control arms extend outward farther.

Also looks nice visually for those who feel the front tires appear sunken in within the wheel wells.
