RIT ---- "Engineers world rule the world if they weren't so busy figuring things out"...That's what my :princess: (MIT) says! Got to love her!

Hahahahahha, I can't begin to tell you how many times I've heard that

Ok-

I got the Stockton wheels and tires back on last night and took it for a quick drive....Wow....I can not believe how good this thing feels now! The new intake system has definately given it a noticeable throaty sound and smoother acceleration and power! Don't get me wrong, it's not a v-8, but it accelerated so quickly/smoothly that it rev'd to the redline without a stuggle, which is amazing with 4.56 gears and a H55 tranny in first gear!

And the lockers and 4.56's rock! :-)

I'll get some pics up afterwork today.

Your rig is the new 60 benchmark, i am so jealous! What is your rpm@60mph? i thought 4.56 was a bit low with 33ish tires.

and more pics would be nice:)

Thanks!

Got the Stockton wheels on and got it on the road again. I love the ride and look of these 15x8 steelies. I also tested the ARB lockers on some hills and was amazed with the climbing ability on loose gravel!

Still working on the power station configuration. Should have it done Sunday. I also fabbed up some brackets to hold the ARB airlines in the engine bay and a piece of emissions gear that was attached to the air cleaner assembly.

Here's a couple of pics.

Long day....time for a ....

now with wider wheels you need more lift lol I bet it feels more stable going around curves.

It does! I can't believe how nicely it runs down the road now....How goes your build?

how are the 4.56s and gas mileage? better/worse? I have a 5 speed as well and was curious about changing my gearing.

I haven't done a complete MPG test yet, but my initial calculations put me at 11.5 MPG

That's with 4.56, 33x10.50x15 tires, H55 / 5 spd tranny and my "Ram Air" snorkel :D system...and the extra weight of the ARB Lockers and accessories....

In the past, on hwy trips I would average +/-16 mpg, with 32 BFG MT's, 3.73 gears and stock intake.

That's beautiful! When are you going to hit Moab? I'm gonna miss Cruise Moab this year but I will be down there visiting my parents and going to the car show the week before. Gonna suck to miss seeing that.

Slower-

We'll be on the road from Kansas City on Saturday 24th, hope to hit Moab by Sunday noon.

Sorry to hear about you missing CM2010.

Enjoy the car show.....I bet car shows in Moab are pretty fantastic...

I love your truck! Great attention to detail, and wonderful ideas. I've always loved this color combo too, if I ever paint my 60, this is in the top 3 color combos I would go with. Congrats on a great truck!

Thanks Carp!

I appreciate the feedback. I see you have an 87...got any pics? I'm a little ahead of you with 228K on the odo. I hope to hit over 230K on this next trip.

Thanks.

Update-

As I was doing some road testing and off-road testing of my lockers I had a couple of "Oh Crap!" moments.....

The first O/C: While off-road locked my power steering pump blew PS fluid all over the engine bay. I checked the cap, hoses (both low and high pressure) and all fittings. I couldn't find a leak. So I thought I may have over filled it. I topped it up and cleaned everything up. A couple of days later I was off-road/locked and it did the same thing!! So the inspection revealed nothing, but I remembered I had replaced the front seal, so that seemed to be where the leak was coming from. Heck, this was the original PS Pump with 228K miles on it, so I went and purchased a new OEM P/S pump from my Toyota Parts Guy and put it on. I did have to remove the bracket, but taking one bolt at a time and taking my time I had it off, cleaned, painted and reinstalled with new hoses in about 2 1/2 hours. It runs great!

The second O/C: I'm doing some road testing and about an hour into the drive I notice the volt meter going down! I later check with a volt meter and its' reading 12.2 v. I have it checked by the auto parts store and they say it's "Low" charging....so I visit my Toyota Parts guy and get a new OEM Alt and Voltage Regulator and put it on at the same time as the P/S pump. It now runs at 14.4v and the volt meter is back in it's original spot.

Needless to say, I'll be eating beans and rice at Moab (beer to wash it all down), but since it appeared both the P/S/P and Alt were original I can only hope I get another 200K out of these!

I'm outfitting the back tonight and will be doing some additional road testing before we headout!

Keep your eye on the fusible between the alternator and battery. I replaced an alternator or two before I found that it was slowly frying down to nothing. Sounds like in your situdation it was the alternator, but I'd hate to see you spend your Moab trip pulling your hair out with that one instead of cruising land.
