I have found that some surplus military aircraft units are built strong and are light weight
I have a few modifications to my 40 using them, my wife says my cruiser has an identity crisis and dosent know if its a 4X4 or and airplane :D

judging by rants last night, the post isn't about finding parts for the arb, but finding a superior product. between the hose and the compressor and the use they've seen (only a few years old, not wheeling every single weekend during that time), they should've lasted much longer for the price and reputation attached.

my advice pighead...go york. all the rest are inferior. oh, and when's dinner?

X2, it looks like a York 210 is in your future. Might be tough to get one and have it installed by the weekend though. I'd go to Wally Mart and buy the NV50 for the weekend and in the meantime work on putting the parts together for a York.

On a different note: you can also run these lockers off a CO2 bottle..

When I had ARB's in the 40 I ran them off the CO2.

ONLY downside is that you better make sure that bottle isn't going empty on your trip. I guess it could happen with a compressor too, but I had a leak in the system and mid way thru the Rubicon I was open/open for the rest of the trip.. Was pleasantly surprised at how well the rig did unlocked.

I would contact the ARB USA people up in WA. They have outstanding customer Service everytime I have dealt with them and have headr nothing but good form others. I know people that had early model compressors that had a solenoid go bad the sent him all new stuff at no charge. That should at least be a quick solution. I would say a mor permenant solution be a york or something if you can fit it in your set up I have a lot of friends running them and they work well. I am currently running one the the VIAR systems with dual compressors and a 2 gal tank. I have not had any issues with it but going from 6 PSI to 25 PSI on my 37s takes about 3-4 minutes per tire.

I absolutely love the air locker, it's just the peripheral support seems weak.

/this\ - we even bought our new-to-us 80 for having ARBs

/this\, too - but that won't help for the weekend

for what it's worth, Michael and I each carry an ARB compressor as a spare in our trucks (specials come up on the 4 Wheel Parts website every so often, got mine for $137) - Michael's compressor grenaded two years ago after 12 years of service (it's still rebuildable, though)

Yes, good idea. I do want to replace or rebuild this little pump. Works just fine for the locker...perhaps asking it to air up 37s was a bit much. I shoulda known better.

I had a failure in one of ARB compressors on one of my vehicles. Small screw snapped off similar to yours and it didn't pump. I took it apart while taking pictures. Then emailed ARB with pictures, asking what parts do I need to rebuild it and where can I get them. ARB replied to me within 2 days, saying that they investigated my case and suggest me to change the compressor,...and as a proposed solution they are sending me a new compressor free of charge. I got it in just over 3 weeks after (post office service). I was impressed with their service. No problem with new one for over a year now.

Thank you Pees, we miss you too.
It seems less drammatic a week later. Plus, it may have been the 'Cruisers Gods & Goddesses just giving me a nudge to go York for my big-air needs. Funnily enough, instead of going 'wheeling this weekend, we answered a Craigslist ad for a used 2F engine for 60 clams. Imagine our surprise when we saw the York mounted on said 2F. I can't decide if I bought a 60 dollar 2F with a free York, or a 60 dollar York with a huge mount. Shoot, it even came with the fanbelt. 'Cruiser Karma is real.

Get the F outta here! You gotta be shatting me! You lucky dog! Awesome! When you get it off of that 2F take some good pics of that mount. Curious how it all goes together.
Cheers,
Brian

As was predicted by some, ARB was very quick to reply about where to send my new compressor...

Running? Not today...it has been rebuilt in the past, somebody smart stamped all the rocker arms and shaft mounts.
Still haven't decided what to do with this engine block. Maybe put it in the 45 so we can use the Toyota power steering, maybe even put it in TWRECKS. It's a good looking engine with lots of new parts.
I need to start another thread about putting this York in my Pig, with an aside regarding the engine.

As an aside, I got another very nice letter from ARB. my new pump should be arriving shortly. Also a useful bit of advice about shortening the leaky hose to cut out the leak...which Ige just did for me while I typed this. So now my airhose is 3 feet shorter, but it holds air.
I have to admit that I am somewhat impressed with ARB in this regard.

Not to mention the 60-series big cap dual-advance distributor. I paid more than $60 for a dizzy and side cover just like that.

great twist of events
