Yes, it does double as a night light, as well as a bedside fridge. This is my VL45 that I would not have if it wasn’t for everyone here and IceCo taking a chance on me. I am very grateful for this.
It makes me wonder how much power consumption you can save by using these in your homes as opposed to traditional fridges. The idea of a cheap, reliable, and low-power consumption fridge that you can take with you camping is pretty appealing. Most of my friends my age who live alone have mostly empty fridges because they don’t cook that often, so something like this is much more fitting even for the home. It’s also perfect for people who Have a home but also travel by vehicle a lot, to reduce the need for 2 fridges and to have 1 waste electricity/go unused while they’re gone.
If it came down to only being able to afford 1 of the 2, I’d rather have one that can double as both a home fridge and car fridge. I realize that’s not practical for bigger families who want a big fridge in the kitchen, and also many family can afford both a car and home fridge, but it’s just a thought for the many people I know who can’t afford the luxury of affording both.
Even if I had a lot of people in the house I think I’d prefer to spend $2000 on 5 of these and spread them around the house (living room, bedroom, garage/backyard and kitchen), rather than just 1 big one in kitchen. I wonder how many of these it will take to match power consumption of the average fridge in people’s homes, to figure out how cost effective that would be to run several of these versus 1 big one.
Anyways, I’m just laying down some thoughts for future marketing ideas and for future power consumption tests.
Thanks again for everyone’s help in helping me earn my fridge, it has been quite clutch for me in this 100 degree weather. I really do appreciate it! Any group buy I organize from here will always be posted here on mud first, and I will ask every manufacturer to keep the coupon as “Ih8mud” even when I start posting in other forums and on FB, as a reminder to everyone that it would not have been possible without the mud community first paving the way.
I plan on contacting Exped, Noco and Jackery next, so if anyone knows someone from one of those companies and can help me with an introduction, I would really appreciate it. I chose these 3 because I have personal experience with their products and would highly recommend it, but also because they are all on the pricier side when compared to the competition. Basically, they are products I am interested in, but since I have no money, I have to try and earn some sponsorships.
If we can get their prices down to something similar to the competitions, then all of them can be potentially great deals for mud members. If that fails I will start looking at other companies who make similar products.
