Nice, looks like bracket on left is a little higher like mine. I will stream and share a clip here, when I drop my bracket so that it “pops” in on left side as well. Does yours snap in more securely on right?

Not a big deal but an easy fix.

Also, thanks for sharing. It looks great!
I didnt check for that, let me test the latches.

Looking at the VL45 and my deadline would be end of August if possible.

Question, How effective is the insulated bag? My understanding is these units draw very little power as it is. I also won't be in one location longer than a day so I am thinking it won't be a necessary addition?
Not sure on effectiveness, but i imagine there are situations when it makes sense and situations when it does not.

If you are driving enough to have excess charge left before starting vehicle each time, as in fridge is still near temp you left/still on when drawing from 12V when car is off, then probably not necessary. But if you are coming back in the morning to battery protection having engaged, and temp is like 5-10ish from where you left it and it’s off, then a bag may be the boost you need. It depends on what kind of battery capacity and recharge rate you are working with. Stock vehicle and healthy battery with daily driving? My guess would go towards no but that depends on how much driving as well.

Im sure others can chime in as I have not ran it off the 12V (I have really old battery), and have been using my Jackery 160 to power it overnight.

FYI, the biggest issue I am trying to address before August group buy is the customer service response times. I sent IceCo an email today asking them to please address this. Lu and Christine have been great, but I have been getting the feeling that they will need some help in handling the next group buy (where we will extend the Ih8mud coupon to neighboring forums with similar interests for overlanding, camping, 4wheelind and etc). I predict that the next one will draw in even more members, and my goal is to find ways to improve on the customer service front by then.

If you guys have any ideas, then I am all ears!

With that said, do we have any members who have any issues still unresolved, other than long Email response times? Sometimes they do not answer, but Did everyone still get what they ordered? I want to make sure everyone is properly taken care of before we start diving into next group buy, so please let us know if you still have any issues.

Yep,I was taken care of. I got shipment two days ago, 60S fridge and slide. Mounted in the trailer and plugged it in today to 120 volt 75 f to start, down to 38 f in 1.5 hours. I'm gonna have to do some wiring for DC use...

Thank You for the update! Would love to see how you end up wiring it to the trailer via 12V, as I’m sure there will be/are others who will be doing the same with some of the bigger models.

Much appreciated brother.

Anyone else having problems with the voltage cutoff? Got my JP50 this week, and today I tried it in my truck. Plugged it on a multi-outlet in the front of the truck and made sure to put the fridge in eco mode. Checked voltage at the outlet with a multi meter while the fridge is running and it shows 12.4 - 12.5 volts. Cutoff set at Low. After a minute or so the fridge shuts off and the display shows E1.

Alternately, did any of you wire directly to the battery for the fridge?
I received my VL65 last week. Took it camping in the mountains. It worked great when connected to my friend's 120VAC generator output. When connected overnight to the 12VDC on his RV, it continuously cut out after a few hours. I made sure it was set to "Low" mode. Eventually, it stopped turning on at all when connected to 12VDC. The RV battery monitor showed is was only down 20% from max overnight. The Iceco was awesome when running and kept things cool for a long time when not running. High-quality construction. I'm waiting to hear back from their support people to determine if I have a setting wrong or if it might have been damaged in shipping (thanks for the dents and dings UPS).

I really love this thing and want to keep it if I can get it set on 12VDC power. Many oohs and aahs from friends on the camping trip. I have a 1700Wh Bluetti power station coming in a few months with solar panels for the long-term.

Thank you for letting us know, your feedback is much appreciated! Please also let us know what IceCo says, as We would love to learn more about these to be able to better assist future members with the same issue.

If anyone has an idea what is going on or if anyone is experiencing similar problems, then please let us know as well.

Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate all the patience and valuable feedback that went into this thread!

What battery setting do you have it at? (unless you are referring to low) 20% is quite a bit. That's 10.16 v on a new battery. That might be below the cutoff of the fridge (I am not sure what it is on the IceCos. On my Indel B it is 9.6 on low)

What is the gauge of the wiring to the 12v port? How far away is the port from the battery?
In cars and SUVs, the stock wiring is not big enough to carry enough current for a fridge/freezer.

Just came back from six days on the road (and off road), first trip with the new fridge! Some observations:

  • Fridge worked very well, keeping food and drinks cold and fresh.
  • Had the temp set to 34 degrees, some items froze, so thinking parts of the fridge were colder.
  • Never had the fridge turn off due to low voltage, but then again we were driving every day.
  • It's huge! This is the 53 qt JP50. Easily had much more space than needed for the two of us for the week.
  • Cannot open the lid fully, but not a problem. Often had to dig down to find what I was looking for.
  • It came unplugged many times, but never had a problem with the temp rising. Looking for a better power plug solution, but still not sold on the proprietary ARB solution.
Here's a picture from the Magruder corridor (45°41'23.4"N 114°47'39.5"W):

Ratchey, I set the VL65 to "LOW" mode for battery protection (9.6v cutoff). The 12v connection is an exterior weatherproof port on my friend's RV, so no idea what wire gauge or distance to the battery. Also don't know how accurate his battery monitor is. He uses this port for other external 12v items, but none may tax the battery like the fridge/freezer does as you mentioned. I used the standard 12v charging cable that came with the unit.

The sole reason for purchasing this Iceco unit is to have it in the LC or in my pop-up trailer for 2-5 day off-grid trips. I feel confident the lithium power bank from Bluetti will be able to handle this load plus a few other lesser draws. The fact that it had shipping damage made me wary once it started cutting out when powered by DC. I do have a small 2200W generator to run 120VAC to it and to charge the power bank when sunshine is limited.

As for support, I sent them my cell number as requested last Tuesday and was told to expect a call. Nothing as of this morning, so I sent another message. Will update you once I hear back.

Is the ih8mud discount still offered? I just tried it and their website said it's not valid.

I switched over to these after having mine come unplugged several times. Quick Disconnect

Some additional info - the Expandable fridges 35L-52L DO NOT have battery protection built in.

I am still considering one with an external voltage cut-off circuit.

Great feedback guys, keep up the good work and thank you!

While we are on the subject, it seems the additional lids to expand do come at an additional cost. Source: their website.

One adds 10L and another adds 7, 35+ 17 = 52x

The 52L selection comes with all the pieces, including both lids, per previous emails.

Okay, GB is just a few days away so I am starting the work today, just gotta setup the stream then I’ll be live. You guys are welcome to stop by the stream with any questions, and like always, you can post them here as well!

Same deal as last time, as in every model will be at least 25% off the full retail price. We even have a new “Mystery Model” that I have no information on yet, but Lu has a few hundred available (Or will be available) for our GB starting On the 14th. The new model will have a “promotional price” that I do not know yet, but I know it will likely have a discount higher than 25%. You guys will be the FIRST to know as soon as Lu sends me info.

Also, Just to confirm what I have been saying, the iCooler AND Expandable will both be included in the 25% as well!

Another thing that will be the same is that this one will also last 10 days, with most models available to ship out within 1 business day, and the rest will ship as soon as the Next container Arrives. You can purchase during the 10 day window to secure the price, even if it is currently awaiting restock. I am waiting for an inventory count and I will let you guys know which models will need additional time to ship, as soon as the information is available to me.

One Minor thing that I will be changing with this group buy, is to ask everyone to consider posting some of your questions here to lighten the workload for IceCo. We all know the email and phone response can be a little slow sometimes, so lets help them with that! There are questions only IceCo can answer and there are questions the mud “Hivemind” can answer; together we will figure out the difference! If unsure if your question can be answered by Mud Members, then play it safe and send it to IceCo.

Anyways, I have camp all setup Somewhere nice and quiet, and enough Cellular Internet speeds to get to work. Got my window AC, generator, awning room and light strip, food, water and etc, so I am all set to get to work! The next couple days will be dedicated to GB preparation!
