I may be in for a day trip, on Saturday... the other half has something planned so I will have to bring the kids but maybe I can con steve into going also...

Would love to see you and the "girls" Ray, hope you can make it.

Of course, any rig is welcomed. Only reason that FJC got brought into my other read is because that is what the moron that almost hit us happened to be driving.

Bring him along! BUT, if i found out that he is the asshat that almost hit me, there will be quite a show at the campfire! :D :D :D

 Wasn't me.
I'm not sure when I can make it out there. Fri late night or Sat morning.

^ HA! He does have a silver FJC, but it really wasn't him. ^

If the FJ is stock height and tires, make sure someone is up above him on the first rock garden. It's not bad, but we did have one FJ get stuck there. He was a newbie and stock everything.

Yeah, stock height and tires (for now). He's new to the FJC, but not wheeling. I'm sure we'll make it work.

Maybe I should take the pickup? If it only had a locked rear...
Other guys did it with stock FJC's. I don't think you'll have a problem.

Stock FJC

A lifted and locked 80 will scoff at the Coyote Rock climb. In my humble opinion a stock FJC with the running boards removed and a competent driver will do fine but having said that, unless you stack a lot rocks or are really good, your gonna grind through a few sections of the rock climb. If you have a manual trans that will make it that much more challenging. Expect minor skid damage and possible body damage with no boards and no sliders. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure all of the FJC's in our group had at least rock rails. Anyhow just my 2 cents.

There was only one that got stuck of several FJC's in a total stock condition. With a good spotter, you shouldn't have any problems. Just make sure you are locked.

On a side note, if there is anyone here that could plan an agenda and keep track of things please don't hesitate. I started the thread but am in no way an expert of the area or the trails (the only one that I have ever seen is Lower Coyote). There are pretty pretty big distractions at work right now so any help is much appreciated.

I'm not too familiar with all the runs out there, however, I do have a guide book with good trail descriptions. If no one comes up with an agenda, we could use the book to determine where we want to go (wing it).

My thinking as it stands right now:
Meet Kevin (Boston Mangler) Friday night and find a camp and maybe do some light wheeling. (Still have to set up time details w/ Kevin). Tentatively, I'll be at the XL Gas station around 5pm. Others who are coming Friday need to chime in so we can hook up or make arrangements so you can find us CB or by phone. My phone service works in some spots out there.

Wheel Saturday morning until 9am meeting time. Then . . .
Finally, Sheep / Coyote Canyon late Saturday afternoon.

I'll pack to camp Saturday also, but not sure if I will or not.

Tweak as you see fit.

KightOwl has sliders and a locker (right?).

Hey Guys

Unfortunately, i have to bail out of this trip. I am doing a 5 day baja trip at the beginning of febuary and need to spend some quality maintence time with my rig. I am working both weekends before this trip and the 27th-28th is the only weekend i got to do it!

Sorry guys! I promise i will make it out with ya eventually! :D

Have fun!

I am shooting for Friday. I could/would be very late to camp though. Maybe as late as midnight. Depends on when my friend can get off work in Santa Monica. I am hoping he can skip out early and we can be on the road by 5 or 6 to sit in traffic:crybaby: . Only time will tell.

Okay.

Since I'm probably going to be the earliest arrival, I'm probably going to be camped east of Calcite Mine Rd. Towards Truckhaven. Maybe even in Truckhaven depending on the situation. I going to try to find a spot with an existing fire pit.

IIRC, one can only make a fire in a metal container and must take (cold :D ) ashes with you when in the Park. Don't know about the SVRA and Truckhaven.

there is a neat primitive camp with toilets and maybe provisions for campfires (?) at the beginning of the Arroyo Salado wash trail, just South of S22 a bit W of the Calcite Mine Rd.

Here is my lineup that I will update as needed, Do you guys want to put a limit on rigs? if so, how many? 10-12?

Smittycrusher (camping)
Landcrusher70' (camping Fri. & Sat.)
Slomo (daytrip w/ copilot)
619TOY (camping Sat.)
Skim (camping?)
rckcrwlr (camping Sat.)
FromCJtoFJ + family (maybe camping)
85 SA TOY (maybe for Sunday depending on agenda)
KightOwl
RAYJON (daytrip w/ :princess: s)
Bluto (maybe daytrip Sat.)

That is all I have thus far. I know there will be many additions/changes before then.

Sat night pot luck:
Smittycrusher: Rotel cheese dip w/chips, plates, napkins, plasticware, beer---also sausage for Sun a.m. breakfast
619TOY:adobada

Let me know of any updates
Smit

UPDATED w/ wheelers and pot luck
