the Palm Canyon state campground is only 1 mile from BS and your meeting point. $20 a night. Hot showers available. Of course, you can camp anywhere in the park (parked 1 car width away from the trail - max) for free, then drive to the Visitor Center, walk 1/2 mile and pay $0.25 for a hot shower as well.

Here is my lineup that I will update as needed, Do you guys want to put a limit on rigs? if so, how many? 10-12?

Boston Mangler (camping)
Smittycrusher (camping)
Landcrusher70' (camping?)
Slomo (daytrip w/ copilot)
619TOY (camping?)
Skim (camping?)
rckcrwlr (camping?)
FromCJtoFJ + family (maybe camping)
85 SA TOY (maybe for Sunday depending on agenda)

That is all I have thus far. I know there will be many additions/changes before then.

Let me know

Camping Saturday night in Sheep Canyon.

My wife is going to be in Atl. (hence my hall pass). I would say that we are a very family friendly group and would love to have them. I am sure there will be some beer drinking around the campfire as long as that is not offensive to you or your family.

Looks like they like sitting in the "way back" also. My kids love sitting back there.

I would love to camp frinday night but i prob could not get there until 11 or midnight. I don't mind running a night trail to find a campsite as long as I am not alone and someone has some lights. If you want to camp at one of the more plush campsites around I could be down for that.

Re: Friday night camping

Palm Canyon Campground is very close to the XL gas station if your still meeting there and it is very easy to find. The group camping is only $60.00 a night so if the group is 4 or more it saves you $$ going that route. There is a 6 vehicle max. or they charge you $6 .00 for each extra. Big fire ring, picnic tables, running water, toilet and showers nearby.

Hi All,
looks like a fun trip you guys are planning.Wish I could make it,but I will be down there in March(prob.middle of the month). We will be camping near octello wells. Is this near any good trails,I know Anza-Borrego is a big area.I just wanted to know where the good trails are& the ones you guys are going to run.
Coyote& sheep canyon.Any help on this would be great,as I have a lot of planning to do.
Thanks,John

Would you want to meet then go find a spot for camp? Might be the easiest.

Sure, that sounds good, i aint paying no $20 to camp! :) In fact, i dont want to pay any $ for camping! I thought the plan was to "rough it" am i missing something? Is sheeps canyon an "established" campground? I was hoping to just camp along the trail. Maybe i missed something, its been known to happen! :)

If no one has done the "Mud Caves" that would be a great place to checkout and a nice camping spot.

We could meet at the same gas station and go from there. I never camped in this area, but there appear to be plenty of places. Basically pullover and stake out a spot. We could go out to Truckhaven, or around Peg Leg.

Cool!

Shoot me a PM to make sure we hook up, i am not following this thread that closely and dont want to miss something

Thanks

When I work out the details at home, I'll be in touch.

I would tag along too but I don't think I could make it up coyote:D Sheep Canyon is a great place to camp!

I'm pretty certain I can make it but not 'til sat. morning. I'll definately be camping. If we're taking votes, I'm with Kevin on camping somewhere along trail as opposed to a campground. I could care less about the fee but like the solitude etc.

We should also iron out dinner sat. night. I prefer to do a pot luck and always grill up adobada (marinated pork). But I'm open to suggestion. If anyone wants to do every man for himself, don't come sniffin' 'round my grill when you regret your decision:D

Smitty suggested in the first post that Saturday night we would camp at the primitive site in Sheep Canyon? There is no fee there but it is a campsite nonetheless and we could run into other campers even though last Saturday afternoon there was only one vehicle there. I'm open to anything, campsite or not. I threw out the Palm Canyon info cause it's close to the XL gas station/meeting place for Saturday morning and it's easy to find for anyone driving in late Friday night. Since I'm the NFG I'll defer to whatever you guys decide.

619Toy the Adobada sounds awesome, I have a small Weber habachi and usually grill vege's and potato's along with some steak or chicken so count me in for the pot luck.

Sheep Canyon isn't primitive. It's got pit toilets! Supply your own paper of course. :flipoff2:

Primitive is when you use your own Pett toilet. hehehe

I am totally cool with a different camp site. The more primative the merrier. I also love the idea of pot luck on Sat. night. I am not the greatest chef but could bring some rotel dip and also provide enough sausage patties for breakfast in the morn. on Sun. I am also good at getting and keeping beer cold.

On a side note, if there is anyone here that could plan an agenda and keep track of things please don't hesitate. I started the thread but am in no way an expert of the area or the trails (the only one that I have ever seen is Lower Coyote). There are pretty pretty big distractions at work right now so any help is much appreciated.

Cool!

Sheeps canyon it is!

The mudcaves are a cool thing to check out if we are in the area!

Any objection to an FJC joining us? I've got a good friend who has an FJC who's interested in going. I usually wheel with him. I'm asking because of the previous FJC comments regarding the last Sheep Canyon run.

[edit]
FWIW: He and I did the Coyote Canyon run in the early '90s when it went all the way though. He had his mini at the time and I rode shotgun in a stock Sammy.
[/edit]

BTW: I've been given the okay to go :hillbilly:, and I'm still deciding on camp night(s). I may camp Friday night, Friday and Sat. Or just Sat.

Of course, any rig is welcomed. Only reason that FJC got brought into my other read is because that is what the moron that almost hit us happened to be driving.

Bring him along! BUT, if i found out that he is the asshat that almost hit me, there will be quite a show at the campfire! :D :D :D
