Hey texas settle down cowboy. Its all good. I know you feel threatened by me. I was just messing around with yall. I don't think its nessesary to have a horn that is loud as all get out but to each his own.

I'm not a cowboy. Threatened... not likely...

Well the peace and quiet was nice for almost a whole day... :flipoff2:

Went to the junk yard yesterday, found this stuff

The horns are huge; the diaphragm is almost 5", the opening of the horn 4", they are made by Auto-Lite. I think it was a late 40's/early 50's Chrysler, hard to tell as it was so stripped, the part #’s are HAB 60 & HAB 61

but something I did not think of wile I was there is they may be 6 volt :( they sound great hooked to a 12v battery charger but the amp meter pegs out they so they are not getting a full 12v, the wiring going to them was huge, may be another 6v clue. The way horns work I don’t think I can wire then in series, they may not be usable :(

Also snagged a Mercedes horn (not pictured) similar in style to the Toyota one but larger, but it does not appear to work, need to drill the rivets apart and see what is going on in there.

The lights are from two Datson 280's, it is an under hood light that can be used in place or the lamp can be popped off cord unrolled and used elsewhere, need new switches, sand blast, paint and wire and bolted in.

I was looking for a tranny cooler from a toyota to use as a PS cooler but could not find any of any good size

I just installed the Fiamms today.

Didn't take pics...really, there's not much to see.

Installation was very easy -- basically plug-n-play.

The OEM horn set up uses a single hot wire to connect to the OEM horn. The Faimms can be set up to use one hot or a hot and ground. Instructions are provided for both. I used the OEM mounts, but did need to lower the position of the horn a bit so that they wouldn't get smacked by the hood when closing it.

The sound is MUCH improved and quite a bit louder. I did a side by side comparison with the Fiamms and OEM horns (the wife's LX was parked next to mine).

I installed a high and low tone.

I am still VERY happy with my FIAMM...just yesterday had a teeny popper try to change lanes on top of me...I gave her a medium length blast....and I got flipped off...

I got to lay on mine coming in this morning. Got pull into by a non-blinker using merger, that just assumed I'd slam on the breaks to let him over. Since there was a middle turn lane available, I swerved over into it and laid on the horn right behind his door panel. Fortunately his window was down, so I was assured he got the full affect. He might of even shat his pants. :D.

You need to get yourself some Locomotive Horns if you really want to be heard;)

I have a 5 Gallon tank and 200psi air compressor (limited to 150psi to work with the horns)

Since manufactures of authentic Locomotive Horns such as Leslie and Nathan/AirChime will not sell to the public (only rail companies and licensed engineers), your best bet is to either get them from a collector or EBay

I got my K3LA's for $400 shipped:)

I can see this be much fun on the freeways and roads of San Diego

Did you know that "San Diego" is spanish for "Worlds Worst Drivers!"

Actually, I plan on adding a window timer module so I can control the horns with the stock alarm;)

I'll be mounting it in the stock spare tire location and relocating the spare to a swing out rack that I have yet to weld up:cool:
