WOO HOO!! iT PASSED INSPECTION TODAY!!! Starting to figure out the A/C. Some vehicles have compressors that vary the compression. Hopefully a quick call to Austin Rebuilders will clear things up.

The term is variable displacement, It does not cycle on/off, instead it varies the amount of pressures on the system.......not sure if the donor has that or not, but I "think" the rest of your system will not know, however I am not sure......I have used the older GM compressors to power expansion valve systems like Toyota uses, they don't care, even though GM uses an orifice tube system to control inside temps, since the mid 70's.....

Thank you for the info. The compressor is from an 06 Sliverado. What year(s) compressor did you use?

mid 90's not a variable displacement unit........I'm not even sure that one is.......try Google search to see if it is....got Lily and going to bed.....

woo hoo! I got paid. That means I can buy my a/c lines.

Ok, its 6am, I couldn't sleep; waiting for parts store to open.

I was going to use ALL of the factory compressor outputs/signals from the toyota ac control module by the glove box. Then, all you need is ONE wire (I think) going to the ac switched input on the gm computer. It just needs to know when you turned it on. The kicker is, the GM system has a pressure switch in the high side line that also goes to the ecm. that is what controls the ac unit off or on, so you just need to close that circuit and make it stay on all the time; the Toyota system will go on and off and turn the ac input on and off and mimic you pushing the ac button on and off. This way, the gm computer will idle up and use the a/c mapping correctly in the GM PCM.

Does that make sense? Give this a try.

The Toyota system "should" rock the house on that, AND I think the displacement of the GM compressor is slightly larger, so I can't wait to see how much colder it can get.

I posted here cause I think we're in the same boat.

I'm thinking about putting a letter badge on the lift gate. Should I put:

LS1

or LS530

Also almost figured out the A/C. I'll post up as soon as I get-r-done.

something like ..

Can you please mock me up one with red (instead of black), black letters, and the 1 is red?

Also, got the speedo working today!!!

Mmmm I'll take one too ;)

That''s COOL!!! When are they going to be in? :)

Jon over at PSI was telling me that I didnt need to run anything to the computer regarding the A/C. Mentioned that the ECM will sense the drag due to the compressor kicking on and idle up automatically. Just what I have heard so far. Let me know how it turns out!

Mark, how are they coming along?

If you ain't got that beeeatch running and driving it daily, ya ain't no bidness getting in a hurry for decals.........:doh:
