Awesome :D

Can you post up some pics of how the batteries are mounted? I want to know how you fit your intercooler tubes up that high. Only place I can think of to put them is through the core support below the batteries.

You guys got to learn s'trallian - This guy speaks the truth! ^^

International language of Land Cruisers.

Great build Hojo! After much discussion and thought, I'm putting my flares back on, but I'm gonna paint them
the same colour as my truck. I hope they last!
Oh you Australians.. :flipoff2: I like the look of factory flares, but you can´t deny the fact that they are easy to break in a tree or something solid, that´s something you have to keep in your mind when you are off-roading.:steer:

Sure, i´ll take some pics later tomorrow.

In other news, i haven´t had a change to install the new shackles due to jack failure. The old (i mean old) jack blew the oil all over the place when i was jacking the front up.:bang::bang: Maybe i´ll just visit my aunt and do all the remaining work there as they has better tools in their garage...

Requested pics, hope they are what @GLTHFJ60 asked. Feel free to ask for more if needed.:)

Those are small batteries. Here I am trying fit series 31's in there.

I like the idea of the intercooler, my idea was to do as you have, but flip the intercooler, so the pipes come through
under the batteries. But I'm a long, long ways from that mod yet.

This is exactly what I plan to do, but I'm having trouble finding an intercooler that will fit properly in that position, and maximize the intercooler size.

Time for a small update, i guess.

Everybody knows that the original reverse lights are just for the looks, they light nothing.
Yes, i have those LEDs on the roof rack but i have to switch them on manually, and i wanted something that works automatically when shifting to reverse.

Some Googling and i found cheap and small led work lights that may do the job. Bought two of these:

Light color is maybe little bit too blue-ish for my liking (6000-6500k) but whatever, those cost only 13€/ea.

After some planning, measuring, cutting and welding it looks like that:

Not the nicest mod but will do the job.
Yes, i know i'm missing piece of steel from tail light bracket, no idea why PO did cut it off.

End result:

Then into interior lightning.
Once again, the original interior light is a joke.
Found this "little" LED from local hardware shop, ~30€ and 1200 lumens.
Lights pretty much the whole interior now.

That's it for now, going to make the flat floor tomorrow, finally.
Also, i may need to start looking for some winter tires as it's closing...

Damn that weather, raining and winding like crazy! Means that it's impossible to get anything done right now.

However, got something done yesterday.

12mm plywood, 30x30mm steel tube + screws...

High quality CNC cut template. Or not.

The work site.
004.jpg

Test fitting. At that point it was time to call it a day as it started to rain and wind.
005.jpg

Rain finally stop around 5 pm and it was time to get something done.
That's mostly what it was from yesterday + some lightning.
002.jpg

Rubber mat installed.
003.jpg

There it is, next step is to fab some kind of legs and maybe some supports to prevent it bending.
004.jpg

Building some kind of reinforcement frame, used 30x30 steel tube.
002.jpg

Legs tacked...
003.jpg

...and welded.
004.jpg

Finished product.
006.jpg

Not sure about what to do next, window tints are horrible, tailgates need some care, oil change is closing..

Nice craftsmanship! That is going to make a nice sleeping area in the back.

Small update, rear-end rust repairing.

The steel lip that holds the rear door weatherstripping was badly rusted or completely disappeared in places.
008.jpg

New lip rosette welded in place. The whole rear floor has been redone by PO.
017.jpg

016.jpg

Fixed taillight mount.
015.jpg

Then applied some black anti-rust paint.
018.jpg

Lower tailgate had some surface rust, wire wheeled and painted.
019.jpg

022.jpg

023.jpg

Then on to the upper tailgate. It had this "little" rust spot under paint. It turned out to be a lot more rust than first excepted, as it was tried to hide with some kind of bondo...
024.jpg

025.jpg

Yes found a hole. Next was to cut off the rotten steel and make new replacing pieces.
026.jpg

Completely welded, then some grinding.
027.jpg

028.jpg

Also, scored winter tires.
BFG Mud-Terrain KM2's in 33x10,5R15 size, with 7" wide chrome Mangels steel wheels.
030.jpg

031.jpg

Wheels were dirty and rusty so i thought i'll just wire wheel and paint them but they turned out to be better than excepted.

That's it for now, try to bear with my low quality pics.

Good work on the rims and rust repair. On the tires though you have been working too hard. Why not get an Ideal Tire Groover. They sipe as well. I used mine to both sipe and groove and they make short time of your work.

I sure have been working hard with that damn mat knife! Asks more muscle than you first except..
I've been eyeing for tire groovers but those costs way too much for my liking, +300 €uro..:censor:

"Ideal Tire Groover" seems to be a lot cheaper, only ~90 bucks:hmm: + blades. How quick do the blades worn out?
Thanks for the tip, gotta keep that in my mind.

Time for a turbo rebuild!
New to me (used) turbo is on it's way!
Seller claims it has only 250k km's on it and is in excellent condition, will see.

I'd put a seal kit in the new-to-you turbo before you install it. It's cheap and fairly easy to do and worth the peace of mind.
