Funding dependent (and obviously if your ultimate results pay off), this might be the direction I lean towards going when I can start the restoration on my 62. It's been almost a year since my engine has even been started up after I got smacked last May.

I cant wait to find out if it was worth it or if an LS would be more functional. At this point in time, I couldve purchased a crate LS3 connect and cruise setup for what ive spent. So that hurts a little bit (a lot actually). If I could do it over id look for a complete engine that was ready to drop in and then slowly mod it from there.
Overall I think its gonna be a big improvement over the 3fe and having the H55 will be even better. only other thing id like to do is 80- series axles, 17's and 35's, and 4.88s... thats gonna have to be next years project though becuase I am out of money and out of time...gotta get this thing running as is

Hope the diesel runs cool. It’s been a challenge to keep things cool with electric fans in Texas. I know you already bought the electric fan set up, plan spacing so you can add a mechanical fan/ shroud down the road. Adding boost makes things a little more tricky on the cooling side also.

I have had troubles keeping mine cool as well, even with the mechanical fan. I am in the middle of putting baffles around the radiator to the grill. To make sure the air is going through the radiator. Not sure how I overlooked them in the first place..... since I have seen them around radiators on cars since the 80's. lol

Ditto. There’s something special about a fully mechanical turbo diesel though.

Got the intercooler piping mocked up and checked fitment of the battery tray and coolant resevoir. Had to made a little notch in the battery tray and will need about 1/2 inch spacer under the tray for comfortable fitment but its looking good otherwise. just need to finish up some wiring and fuel lines and should be good to fire it up. realistically not much work left but I am not confident in my wiring skills so I spend more time staring at what needs to be done at this point than actual work. Im getting exhausted with the project between work, family, and very little free time. cant wait till its done! Also need to figure out an air intake box if anyone has any ideas that wont cost an arm and a leg! otherwise ill use my terrible fabrication skills to cobble something together.
