Nice 🤬

Insurance company are being flaky.

Police actually returned a call to my online report . The very nice officer says Meh, bad weather etc

Local Toyota dealer confirmed all parts NLA due to it being the transponder key.

Truck will not start without the key, if only the thief had checked 😠

Now, the truck is just undriveable. Steering lock is dangerous & micro switch for transponder not right.

I’ve managed to source some spares. One door lock was smashed.

My concern is having to remove the airbag to then replace the steering lock / column 😕

And then put it all back together and get it running.

Well that sucks.
What does the transponder talk to, to prevent the truck from starting?
Can that be removed or retrofitted?

Sorry you’re going through this. Know how you feel. I’ve a couple trucks stolen. Trying to prevent a third.

Did you have an theft deterrents on your truck? Alarms, brake locks, etc?

I added a loud alarm to my rig a few months back, after seeing all these cases of broken ignition barrels. My previous theft prevention measures would have stopped most attempts to steal the vehicle, and aid in recovery if it was stolen, but I've seen you still need a big loud siren to scare away the idiots with blunt instruments before they ruin your day.

Sorry to see that :(

Removing the airbag isn't that tough. The FSM spells it out pretty well. I had to do it when I put new leather on my steering wheel and think it took about 10 minutes. As I recall the hardest part was removing the clocking ring (located under the steering wheel) which you may or may not have to do.

There is an immobiliser fitted which looks for the key. No key = no start.

This has now armed itself so I have to reset it when the replacements get here.

Thanks for the heads up for the airbag removal .

Hopefully will get this sorted over the weekend 👍

Incase you haven't read the below thread it should provide you a lot of info about the immobilizer. I would start reading from the last post towards the first.
