Well name change at hand as posted in What did you do with your 60 this weekend?

Buffalo Bill from this point on.

I need some help with a part number if possible. I would like to replace the upper radiator hose. The local parts counter kids eyes glazed over when I asked for assistance and mentioned engine swap.

Does anyone have any idea what part number to look for? I believe the lower hose will be a standard easy to find one but I haven't pulled it off yet. Looks like the PO cut the upper hose a little to make it fit. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Also if you guys were pulling the hoses and therefore draining everything would you just put a new thermostat in for the heck of it?

The 60 came with 2 cd's of alleged parts lists but I have been unable to access any of the info on them as my computer cannot recognize the file extensions. I will post about that in a separate post in case any tech savvy owners can help

Generally when I do any hose work, I just take the hose with me and look through the assortment at the parts store and try to find one that will work. If there is a wrecking yard near you, you could browse and try to find one from another vehicle that would work and order by that application. Always a fun thing to try to find the most suited one when doing an engine swap or working on a swapped engine vehicle. The TBI base gasket should be easy to find. They are all the same. thermostats are cheap, easy to determine when they go bad though and you don't lose a lot of coolant replacing them on a sb chevy so your call really.

This is what I found and used on my V8 60.
Dayco 81201. It's the corrugated heavy hose with the internal spring.

Did this work out well on your rig? Seems like a good option just wondering if there is any sacrifice in longevity for the flexibility? Rock auto has it for 10 bucks seems hard to go wrong at that price

I think I have located the right gaskets for the TBI. I had not thought about a wrecking yard and that's a great idea. May do that just to get a good look at the various possible set ups. The engine was a crate motor so the set up was never really clearly stated as it perhaps might have been if pulled from a wreck.

I was going to try another parts store to see if they have someone at the counter who is a little more mature and actually knows what a 350 is but ran out of time.

I think on the thermostat I will leave it as is for now as its pretty new <1 year and < 1k miles. As you say I can always change it out with minimal fluid loss if need be in the future.

My V8 swap is a Downey conversion. It's set way back and was done by the original owner in 95. I have run the same type hoses on my 40 with zero failures. When I put a champion radiator in the 60 it was a no brainer to go with these hoses.

Thanks for the feedback. Can it be cut to fit? Looks like that one is 25 inches long. I think working length I need is 19 inches or so
