I was thinking that would be a good idea as well, it’s odd the front side was not seam sealed so any gunk kicked up from the tires would end up in that bracket and stuck hence the rusting issue. I’m thinking of seam sealing and adding the drain hole.
 
We’ll, I haven’t posted for a while, I’ll add a few photos of the progress.
