I'll start a build thread soon .... Though not much building is needed. I am in South Georgia picking up my new-to-me Land Cruiser. And yes, it was bought with a case of Michelob Ultra *

The embargo has been somewhat lifted .....

First a few pics

The specs ....
1987 JDM BJ74
13B-T with slight fueling and boost tweaking
Auto trans, ARB lockers front and rear, OME suspension, PTO winch in an ARB bull bar, LED fog lamps and Lightforce 24V driving lights, TJM snorkel, bouncy seats
109,000 kms on the clock

* there was also US currency that changed hands today as well as the aforementioned case of beer ;)

Coming back to the CLT area tomorrow with it in tow ...

Sweet!

JDM though, so you'll be joining us driving on the wrong side of the vehicle

Thanks! Well worth the change!

The windshield is much cleaner than when I first started it .....

If you get my drift ;)

I have had the trailer pictured for 11 years and I've probably pulled onto and off of it a couple thousand times ... pulling onto it with a RHD truck was just plain weird, but I am sure I'll get used to it ....

Cool Sam, I like the color.

I do too. It carries original paint except for the hood where a dent was fixed and the left front fender ...

I cannot believe how clean this truck is. I'll probably cry over the first scratch ....

That thing is a good looking truck.

Thanks Rafael .... Wait till you see it in person. The pictures I had of it did not prepare me for how nice it is ....

Nice!

Oh man. I can totally see you rolling the coal in that beauty. More pics please!!

Very nice! Congrats!

Thank you both. The 70seriesitis is a most virulent strain of LandCruseritis. :)

More pics will be taken this afternoon and tomorrow .... If only for the insurance company for the agreed value coverage. I may need a lead on a good appraiser since I do not think I could recreate this truck for what I paid for it.

Rolling coal is the word ... I'm going to have to keep an eye of EGTs as I get into the hills. I saw pretty close to 1100F pre turbo on the small rises that pass for hills down here in South Georgia. It is possible I'll be dialing the fuel back a bit. The injection pump and injectors were just rebuilt and we hunk the injection guy may have turned the rule up a little more than the local mechanic had .... Unfortunately, the only place for an intercooler is the roof, so I don't see one in my future. Based on my 20 minute or so test drive, I do not foresee any problems merging with traffic in the CLT area.

Rambling, I know ... But I am super happy with this purchase ....

A top mount intercooler might fit!!

Beautiful rig my man. I can't wait to see a 13B-T, never seen one in person before.

Is it noticeably faster than your last 3B powered 70 series rig? You're in a unique position that you've been able to own (and drive) two variations of the same model. I want to hear about your opinions on both!!!

Congrats Sam, it's awesome! Where'd you get it? You're going to really enjoy that turbo!

Catching up a bit .... Long drive back from South Georgia with a near death experience on the interstate then off to dinner and a movie ...

The short answer is hell yes, there is a noticeable difference between the two. In stock form, the 13B-T has, ballpark, 50% more hp than the 3B. Somewhere in the ONSC section there was a HP and Torque curve posted comparing a 3B, 13 B-T, and a 3B with a turbo and you could see differences there.

The long answer is that even with the losses of the auto transmission, the 74 with a lift, stock gears, and 33" tires is much peppier than the 73. I will have no qualms with merging with traffic in the 74. Fuel and boost are moderately tweaked, so this helps too.

Neither engine is a candidate for a sports car, but the 13B-T definitely has the power to run an auto trans where the 3B would not, IMO.
