AHC fluid contaminated

Did you use the 1l or 2.5l container? I used the 1l
the 2L cans have been discontinued, so you might be hard pressed to find them. However, if you do find them, they should be fine as they have a long shelf-life. I don't think if it has been discussed whether this is a shelf-life in plastic issue vs bad manufacturing batch.

So, what fluid is safe to use if the 2.5 is NLA and all the 1l are suspect?

Some (maybe even most) of the 1L will be fine. I bought 14 of the 1L plastic bottles this summer and all were fine. Just pour the entire bottle into clear glasses and inspect before using. I then used a funnel to put back in the black plastic bottle.

I posted this in the other thread much earlier, but Toyota/Lexus should have traced the source of the problem upstream, identified the faulty batches, then traced where they were distributed downstream and pulled them. Corporate has known about this problem for some time, since at the latest June '21, as another user saw an email from Lexus corporate at that time, acknowledging the problem and instructing dealers to not use the current part number of fluid.

Anyway to get a copy of that email?

the mud member who posted the information was from TN as well. It was a psa announcement. At that time, toyota even stopped the ahc fluid but then restarted. I tried to search for the post but couldn't locate.

Just got off with Lexus Corporate and they have declined any repairs. BS about Toyota and Lexus are seperate companies and it wasnt Lexus branded fluid. Who are these people? 90% of the car is direct Toyota parts. Pissed off

I would personally wait until official word from Toyota that the fluid is GTG. Visual contamination may be only part of the problem. There could be blending issues as well which might make the fluid fail to meet specifications even after the residual material is filtered out.

They can play all they want but a judge will not take a label swap as enough to warrant “different company” position. They are the exact same fluid and the exact same company and manufacturing plants.

You can take any number of parts stamped with both logos as evidence for that.

Get a lawyer involved.

Believe it was this one:

And this one is close-ish:

@CHAOTIC probably wasn't sent the actual email but in any case it's the thread linked above and here

That's a good point, perhaps the issue is not binary. If that ended up being true, would possibly explain my harsh ride that I can't seem to remedy. Hope we find out.

For a little background. It's been since about late 2020 that there have been multiple (maybe 8-9?) "pump failure after AHC exchange" threads, whether having work done DIY or at the dealership. There have been at least 3 threads where the person has taken the fluid back up to Toyota to show them it was bad and had it exchanged over the past 6 months. With the exception of playing a game of "head in the sand" there is no way Toyota/Lexus doesn't know about it. This would seem to be confirmed along with the threads where people were denied being able to purchase it because of some sort of recall. At least one of those people had their pump replaced for free after Toyota/Lexus was made aware of the fluid issues.

How many miles? Globes could be worn out.

Your bottles don't say Lexus on them? I did a Google search and only found one image of a bottle that didn't say Lexus on it. All mine do.

I’m dumb and forgot LOL I had the mental image of the ATF bottle in mind.
These are indeed the exact same bottle too wow.

What a runaround by “Lexus”

if you have a receipt from a Toyota or Lexus dealer for the fluid, I don't see how that is not an OEM part. It is cross labeled and sold in both their dealers.

Bro I’m willing to bet when you check their business registration it will be Toyota corporation subsidiary and using the trademark Lexus to do business. All a bunch of nonsense deflection.

Sorry I’m getting actually angry on evils behalf.
