On another note:

The retainer clip Number 55433A in the drawing below is actually already made. I'm playing around with the design as I'm not 100% satisfied with how it is receiving the dash.

Had a guy asking questions today in regards to whether the Upper Dash we offer will fit RHD vehicles as well. Scoured the drawings and internet for PNs. It's the same PN for LHD & RHD. See attached RHD as well.

Funny, I was just thinking about one of these this morning.

I would have bet good money you had a box of them sitting around somewhere!

Retainers yes; uncracked dashboards no. Need anything I can interest you in to help offset getting one of your pads for myself?

I don't know right off hand. I'm swamped with new projects right now and haven't had time to mess with anything land cruiser related.

However, I will undoubtedly have a need in the future. I want to take a fzj80 and build a fzj45. Kinda like the Phantom thead on here. I'll be working on a 40 in the next week as the youngest daughter wants to drive it to school.

Presently building a cnc plasma / router. Lost my drawings??? Need that for a project/product line we're starting.

Gotta head back to the office and print more off.

If I can think of anything I'll sure let you know!

Do you by chance have a DIY video of how to cut out and install the dash light on your Dash Pad?

I thought I had a better write up on the Web site. You might go to the upper dash page and scroll down towards the bottom of the page, it describes how to cut it out. Gotta admit after reading it I think it could be more explanatory.

I'll try to check to see if I have a better write up with pictures on the computer.

FYI,

FJ 40 DASH CLIP 55433A

Upper Dash Pad Retainer Clip PN 55449-60010 or whatever it is...... In some drawings/diagrams it's number 13.

It's on the web-site, I've actually sold several already to existing customers but now it's available.

Before anyone says anything, I still need to get to the older 40's lower dash pad. Every time I walk past that I get tinge of guilt for not working on it..........Same thing goes with about 20 other "Projects" sitting around!:bang:

I thought I would provide an update on the older lower dash pads, because recently I've been getting quite a few emails for this part.

Tool is textured and ready to run a part......However, I still have to design the metal inserts, which really isn't that big of a deal, just takes time.

We lengthened the tool, so it should be the correct length as the original. Just need to find some time to squeeze a prototype or two into production.

I've been overwhelmed with normal business and haven't had time to work on this but we are close. It really sucks being self employed?

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR 40!!!!

Just thought I would put an FYI out there.

We will not be shipping from 11/11/16 through 11/21/16. I put it in large letters on the web-site but I thought I would put a post on here.

You can still order and we will ship on 11/22/16 on first ordered first out basis. We are going to shut down for a week and take a little time to ourselves.

Happy Veterans Day!!!
GOOD LUCK ON YOUR 40!

OLDER LOWER ONE PIECE DASH PADS

Thought I would post so the guys wanting the older one long piece lower dash pads wouldn't get so discouraged with me. (Haven't had any death threats for awhile?)

Ran this, this morning. There are no metal inserts in it yet.....still working with my supplier on this. I will let cure and lay it up against a 40 dash this afternoon for fitting.

IT FEELS SO DARN GOOOOOOOD!!!!! We might back off on the durometer of it, as it cures it will get harder and everyone seems to like them slightly softer.

Fitted it up, looks GOOD! Really very excited/pleased with how it turned out

but it is not an exact replacement. Our texture is different than OEM, and the left hand curve (I'll show in pictures following) is quicker on the OEM.

SIDE BY SIDE COMPARISON: The dash with the white residue is the OEM dash.

I worked on the metal inserts today, locating them in the tool to match the pattern on the dash. Here you can see one mounted. Did a hurried trim job so I could check out the mounting. The white opaque film is wax residue from the mold. Should have washed it off first and trimmed a little better but I was in a hurry to see how it mounted.

Thought I would provide an update.

Designed & built jigs/fixtures for metal inserts. Rather than wait 4 to 6 weeks on the metal supplier, it was quicker if I spent my nights and weekends on this :censor: thing! :bang: Real smart move:doh::doh:. The last part of the puzzle was locating the bottom strip for the screw holes in relation to the dash and the bolt holes. Quite a bit of reverse engineering there philo beddoe, not to mention several :beer:!!!!

We ran a couple today and test fit to make sure everything was correct. It all fits. :bounce: Bolt & screw hole locations are dead on. I will tell you the earlier models are different than the later models. Towards the steering column it is more difficult to get to the bolts to secure a lock washer and nut. Vacuum Shift and steering column is in the way. NEED LITTLE HANDS or see notes below.

SOME NOTES:

It is wiser and quicker to just drop the heater core and duct to gain access. My hands are not that small.
Run the screws on the bottom side of the long dash pad in and out a couple of times.
Start the screws first, but do not tighten all the way in. It's a tight fit, but it does fit like a glove. It took me a couple of times to locate the screw holes but the measurements are dead on! It helps to push the lower part of the pad firmly against the dash.

We will run some for production tomorrow and I'll try to have them available on the web-site for sale, however we will not be able to ship until Friday 2/10/17.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR 40!!!!
