No car is worth that, we are making the decisions together on this which is cool in and of itself.... don’t ruin your marriage.
... I am going to go ahead and swap Chevy springs into the rear and then put my rear springs up front. It makes the most sense to me. I am also going to get my own welder and do the fabwork myself.
Just when I thought my grinding was over...!
As much as it sucks to get this far and now restart a couple things, it is definitely going to be worth it in the long run. I just picked up Chevy springs today so all that is left is the spring swap kit from ruff Stuff and the welder.I feel bad about mentioning it now but in the long run it is a better set up. The benefit is that we're a couple project lines ahead so we should be able to get you some measurements to get you dialed in pretty quick. Getting your own welder is a great decision. It opens up a lot of options. There's a bunch of stuff I've built that is not truck related.
mmm... grinder dust.
Those Chevy 63 springs are substantially bigger and longer than the stock land cruiser springs. I'm excited to get them under it. I was able to find the 4 leaf springs do I need to do any modding or removal of a leaf?
We went the miller route. We decided on their multimatic 220... given the welding projects I wanna do it made the most sense to pony up now. What welder did you guys decide on?
add a leaf or replace them? You think it'll be that different? You’ve got the wrong springs. Those will be way too soft and it will drive horrible.
I picked up my 4 leafs plus overload on CL for $75. Did you already pay for your 3 leafs plus overload?
He’s also wanting to do a Diesel engine swap in the future.Yes, the 3 leaf plus overload is too soft. Even the 4 leaf plus overloads are soft, but work out just right. IMO, if you are able to find some 4 plus overload packs I'd go that route rather than an add a leaf.
Could you remind me what engine you are running or plan on running? If it's the 2F or something as heavy, for your FJ60 rear springs a long add-a-leaf is a good idea.
