Added power rear vent windows in my GX470. First world problem solved!

I don't have my exact diagram handy, but the concept is basically this: Door Locks - Actuators / Reverse Polarity - Negative Switch/Trigger (Type D) (b) Relay Wiring Diagram

First, I cut the original connectors on the actuators and added my own 2-pin connector:

Then, I wired together the relays like the diagram above with an 8-pin connector:

I drilled two holes in the rear pillar behind the trim near the jack storage, and added some nutserts to create a solid mounting point for the relays:

Not pictured is the 8-pin connector and harness that is routed up to the center console where I placed the LX470 switch instead of the stereo Aux input.

Here's an old video I found that shows the switch in action on the workbench:

So you wired the 12-volt to 85 and 87 on one and 87 and 86 on the other? Or both to 86 and 87?

I always hated that the rear vent windows were manual in my GX (I guess I got spoiled in my old LX). Just on a hunch, I looked at pictures of the manual latch from a 100 series and it looked just like the ones I’m my GX so I picked up a LX window motor on eBay. I was right! Bolted right in. Big problem was figuring out how to wire it in. There are only 2 wires from the motor so you have to reverse polarity to make it close. Also, I wanted to make it look factory so I used the height control switch to open and close the window. I made a video of it because it would be too much to write to try to explain how I did it.

Which wire did you use for illumination?

Were you ever able to find out which wire illuminated?

So the motors just screw on in place of the existing brackets? How do they connect to the window? I’ve got a few motors headed my way.
As long as its the complete assembly then they bolt right into place. There is a lot of plastic trimming that needs to be done however to make space for the larger motor and hinge. But nothing a Dremel can't knock out quickly!

I am using the same switch as you used...Land Cruiser switch. Looks like only 2 wires from that switch are used?

Ok....so getting the wiring set up since the motors will be here Tuesday.

So I will run the 30 wires both to the motor, but don’t connect the wires from the relay together...run them separate into the motors 2 wires and then piggy back the same way to the other motor.

I only need two wires (85 from each relay) to the switch?

What are you guys tapping into for the 12v from the relay? Anything in the rear that is switched power? (86/87 from relay)

Any way to illuminate the switch?

When wiring the 3/8 and 3/7 from the switch....do you just wire the 3 to both 7 and 8 separately and then run those as the separate wires back to the relay?

Yes, you can tap into the illumination power and ground from the nearby heated seat switch. If I remember correctly, you'll want to use the correct ground on the heated seat switches so that the vent window switch dims properly with the brightness adjustment. The first time I hooked it up, I grounded elsewhere add the light in the vented window switch would be at full brightness.

Cool...I will try to figure that out. First thing I need to figure out is where to put the Land Cruiser switch in my 06. Not a great place to put it easily.

Ok guys, I am stuck. I cannot figure out the wiring for the Land Cruiser switch. I know a few of you have used this particular switch.

For the relay....yellow/white is 87/86 which I am trying to test directly on the battery. Red is 87a which is ground, blue is 30 which each goes to a motor wire, black is 85 which I am running to the switch. I even tried it on a different 3 prong switch and nothing.

Any help?

Edit: Figured it out! I will post details this weekend for those that might use the Land Cruiser switch in the future. Now just need to figure out where to install the switch.

Are all of you guys wiring straight to the switch, or were you able to source the plug as well with pigtails?
I went straight to the switch couldn’t find the pigtail.

I have 4 Land Cruiser 100 switches...2 with pigtails and 2 without. Once I finish my install I will have 3 switches left over that I will be selling. (2 without pigtails and 1 with)

Hoarder! Lol I'm things try and pull a Sienna switch today, but I'd be interested if that doesn't pan out.

Ha! The Sienna switch looks better for sure. Anyone have an extra???

I am also torn on where to put the switch.

I bought one of theb3D printed switch holders that goes in the same location as the air ride controls so that's where I was planning to go. I'm not sure how well either switch will fit, but it's a start
