My AC is cold as ice on my 85. Only when the RPM's are above ~650. I researched what is needed to idle up when the AC kicks in, and don't see one on my carb.

What's the issue here? If I push the throttle a bit, 200 additional RPM's, the AC kicks in.

Weird thing is that the arm that would be actuated is there, vac hoses all seem to be there and connected, and the VCM valve has vac lines attached.

I'm stumped.

AFAIK not all 60s came equipped with AC from the factory. Are you sure yours has factory air?

There's an electronic VSV on the DS fender that's energized when you hit the AC button on the dash. That sends vacuum over to the AC idle up diaphragm to increase idle speed. Is that there?

I believe so. The original widow sticker shows AC as part of the build.

I don't remember which one of those valves controls AC idle-up, but that's what I'm talking about. I'd recommend using a multimeter to determine which plug gets voltage when you hit the AC button, then follow the vacuum lines to see where they go. One of the two that connects should go to manifold (intake) vacuum and the other to the idle-up diaphragm.

Going back through my old pics, someone removed your ac idle-up solenoid for some reason, but this is what it should look like installed on your carb.

That's the missing part. I thought I was going crazy. Another part to add to the hunt list. Thanks GLTHFJ60

As a temporary workaround, you can set your idle higher than normal for the summer months, at least until you get your idle-up diaphragm installed!

Is that an easy thing to do myself? Only need a couple hundred RPM's.

Yes. Flat blade screwdriver is all you need. Idle screw circled in red in this crappy picture.

I just noticed something funny about this picture. You see the bent piece on the bottom right side? It is on all of these carbs but I have never seen a real application for it. it is drilled for a spring to attach to. Anyway, I think it is hilarious that CCOT actually used a photo of an obviously damaged (bent) carb for their own promotional purposes. To me that says a lot about the quality of the merchandise you can expect to receive if you purchase from them. FAIL.

On 60s at least, in stock form, a throttle return spring is attached there.

Oh Yeah! How could I forget that spring? I have to undo it every time I take the linkage off. Duh! Good call Johnny.
