did you cut your crossmember to fit the receiver?
No I did not see any reason to, the slide in portion of the ball mount drop hitch I am using does not require that much depth.

The outdoor shot of your BJ71 shows a gorgeous car, wow! Very little shiny chrome, just a solid, lovely beast; nice! For what it's worth, i am in Lethbridge for a little while (the current job is nearly done), if you have any interest in seeing a beat-up old 61, i'd be happy to visit and get my eyeballs on your 71.

I will be there from April 20-30. Kinda bad timing as I arrive on the last day of Easter Jeep Safari and leave on the first day of Cruise Moab. But its all that my work schedule would allow. I personally only know of 2 other Albertans that will be there during this time and they are members of the Lethbridge Coulee Kruzers http://www.lethbridgecouleekruzers.com/

I'm leaving Calgary early on the 24th and will hit Moab in the pm of the 25th. Another group is leaving 5:00pm on the 24th as well as another group from Fort Mac some time the same day. We're all meeting up and doing a bunch of trails before the event starts. I will be at Slickrock and everyone else has rented a place in town. Maybe we'll see you about town or on a trail.

Sure, as soon as i figure out how to pm

The new PM format is called a "conversation".

Thanks Cruiserdan; i did figure it out a few days ago. All it took was getting over the usual impatience.

Great build, just came across this thread..

Great build. Have a question on your rear storage box. In this pic, what are the tie downs attached to on the body side?--are there factory tie down points there? I have a BJ74 and I can't find any tie down points at all in mine, however, I have found some bolt holes back there that seem to be in just about the location that those tie downs seem to be attached. Am I just missing the factory tie down rings in mine? Or did you use something custom there?

EDIT: Never mind. I just looked in the parts catalog. Looks like there are. Now let's just hope they're available in the USA....

They look just like the ones in the floor of my 80. Since the jack bracket in the 80 is identical to the one in the 74 I would not be surprised if the 80 ones would work.

Do you still have removed PTO winch parts??
I'm looking for bumper brackets.

Do you have some parts or complete set??
Send me details.

Hello again! Your drawer system looks to have a narrow drawer on the LH side. Does the drawer open with only the LH rear door open? It doesn't look narrow enough. Any thoughts on your drawer/storage unit, what you like about it and what you might do differently?

I have 4 sheets of 15mm baltic birch showing up at the shop on Thursday, so looking to build something soon.

Thanks!

No I still have to open both doors to access the LH drawer, otherwise the drawer ends up being way to narrow. I made the drawers two different sizes to accomodate larger items.

The only thing I would change if doing it again is to keep them 1-2 inches shorter. Its a little high when loaded and trying to reach things up top

Best advise I can give you is to not cheap out on the sliders. My drawers are loaded heavy all of the time and I dont think cheap ones would have held up.

I read the first 3 or 4 pages and loved your work but skipped to the end to reply. One of the guys back then suggested you replace your drop pitman arm. I was just wondering if you did or have one for sale as I need the drop pitman arm shown in your pics. Cheers.
