Hey Mud!

Thought it was about time to start a build thread on my 80 Series. I'm sure there is maybe one or two people who obsess as much as me over the aussie cruisers so here it is.

-Backstory
To start, let's get some background on the rig. The rig is a 1991 FJ80 "Poverty Pack" which means it does NOT have a sun roof, fender flares, lockers, leather interior or the larger wheels from the factory. The engine is the 3FE which means its a fuel injected 2F with worse gas mileage... This rigs appears to have lived most of its life in Arizona which means it is rust free! Well as rust free as a 30 year old truck can be. After the truck lived its life in Arizona the truck came into the possession of the renowned Proffits Resurrection Land Cruisers. I did not know this at the time but Proffits had just become a dealer and is now able to sell used cruisers. Anyways I had just sold my BJ60 and I still had that land cruiser itch that needed to be scratched. So I jumped on the opportunity when this rig popped up. So I flew down to Colorado from Montana and picked it up at their shop. Now that was a cool experience! They gave me a tour and I was able to poke around their shop before heading on my journey home. So in one day I drove the old heifer from Montrose to Salt lake where I spent the night. Since I was in Salt Lake I thought it would be a missed opportunity to not visit the Land Cruiser Heritage Museum. Again another cool experience. I will definitely be going there every time I visit Salt lake from now on. Now that brings us to about a year ago.

Looks great man, looking forward to seeing where you go with this.

Sweet 80! I've seen you around town but never been able to stop and say hi.

Update!
Been working on the rig a bunch the past couple of weeks. Here is the quick and dirty of what I've done.
  1. Wired in WolfBox Rear View camera mirror
  2. Got my Grubby mitts on a Decked system (got real creative with a circular saw)
  3. Installed new to me Stedi lights... because aussie of course
  4. Ran a 4 wire cord out of roof for future rack lighting
Things I'm still not completely pleased with

I need to find a better way to run the wire along the frame rail. It looks terrible and isn't protected. Also not that it matters to anyone I will be changing every zip-tie to black because the white colored ones drive me nuts. The extrusion along the top of the windshield could have been prettier but the glass isn't a perfectly square. Lastly I also need to just bite the bullet and buy a Deutsch Connector kit because I'm getting tired of hard wiring everything. But after all that is said it turned out pretty good!
