ECU is in drivers side kick panel, once that gets wet your going to be “toes up” with or without a snorkel.
Toyota ECU's are pretty tough. It wouldn't surprise me if they could actually withstand a dunking. In addition it takes a while for the interior to fill up with water. However most of the connectors that likely were water tight back in the 90s likely aren't anymore. Pulling them and putting grease of some sort in them all would probably be a good idea even for the non snorkeled rigs. The last snorkled 80 I had was dunked pretty good(It was a 1fz), and it never stopped in the water, but moisture did get in many of the connectors which caused a ton of issues later on with many pins getting corroded.

Thanks for the Info on the Winches! Ill have to keep doing research.
White Stripe, that is something I didnt think of on the Raptor liner, Im a Texas guy and new to the Midwest... Maybe Ill lean toward just painting it desert tan, eventually.
Also everyone with Snorkel info, all valid points, at the same time, I love the way they look, and TMS ones are knock off Safaris from what I gather and are cheap... if they cost what a Safari does I would pass.
OneManArmy - I have thought of doing an H42 trans and transfer case... I may even know where to find one out of a later model 40... The issue... with the 33s the engine is kinda turning fast at 70 on the 1 to 1 ratio (same as 3rd on my trans), other issue... I dont want to deal with new custom Drive shafts... I have thought about it! I may even know where a H55f trans is in canada along with a 3b diesel... getting that for dirt cheap could change everything! (IDK if the 4cyl diesel power would cut it though.)
But First I want to get some other things sorted on this before I do any swaps...

I agree, the Toyota ECU’s are fairly tough, but unless the owner is religious about keeping everything tight, and coated/treated with dialectic grease, water/moisture WILL get in. Plus, the dizzy needs a couple easy “fixes” to prep it for water.
I love WATCHING Deep water crossings, but I don’t think my heart or nerves could take me doing one in MY Land Cruiser! Lol
But..... in my eyes they look at home on the Land Cruisers, and they DO help in dry, dusty environments.

So been playing with the new welder making rear bumper corners.. I know the welds aren beautiful but they are strong! I do plan on making a swing out with Heim joints. But for right now i just have the corners.

I have also done some more boring stuff like replaced the steering box and other maintenance. Pulled factory roof rack, some interior stuff and so on. But nothing too exciting.

I Recantly found a very rough 85 fj60 that I am thinking of getting, guy wants a lot but he called me recently and said 750, i think I could get it for less, anyway that would give me a Manuel swap! 2FE if I wanted to build it. I think the Manuel hubs fit the 91 front axel but maybe someone could answer that... also wondering if the 60 driveshafts would work on the 80 once the trans and transfer case were swapped. Custom driveshafts aren’t cheap

Just wanted to give you an update.... I sold the Old girl... life happen and sometimes you need $$$ BUT wait... check out my new toy!

I'm trying to get mine built as well but with covid-19 and knee injury and no work, things are not moving as fast as I want. I still need a transfer case and heater core.
