Body Work

Got 1hr 45min between last night and tonight. I got the rear patch on the driver side quarter welded in, ground down and primered over. I also got the passenger side A-Pillar positioned and tacked into place - looks good, but I will have to coat the inside as I know there is paint that has burned off.

Pictures finally!

Rear patch welded in and ground down. You can see the rusty piece that was cut out:

Same spot primered over:

Rear Floor removed :eek::

Rust behind rear wheel wheels. I deemed it necessary to remove the floor. Now I am thinking that was a lot of work:

New HF welding cart. It works:

Body Work

Got 3hr 15min on the 60 today. I got the passenger side A-pillar finished up. I also got the patch for the driver rear quarter panel cut out and cleaned up. I did cut the rear quarter, but I will have to do some other parts before moving onto the outside.

Sure looks like you're getting the hang of body work and sheetmetal. Good work.

should be quite a few, Dave. You started this thread a year and a half ago!!:clap::clap::clap:

Summary to Date

Got the summary to date for time and expenses. Please remember, the tools killed me as it includes welding tanks, air compressors, etc.

Total time to Date:
234 hours and 45 minutes

Total Cost to Date:
$3,401.21 - includes truck, tools, consumables, etc.

So a quick estimate if you were doing a resto for someone for $20 hr. cash would be about $4700 so far for labor.
Interesting. Always wondered what some places charge for major restoration jobs.

I look forward to your picture updates. They give me hope for my job.

$20/hr? HA! Good luck finding any shop willing to work for that! I do quite a few side jobs out of my home shop, and still charge $40/hr.

Body Work

I got 3 hours over the last two nights on the 60. I have been working on the driver side rear corner and rear sill. That rear section is just shot!

This stuff sucks. I don't know if I'd do it even for $40/hr for a living - maybe if I had a better work area it'd be better.

you've got to factor in the overhead. even out of someone's home garage/shop there are plenty of expenses-utilities, tools, basic supplies like paper towels, grease and beer.
