Thought this truck was interesting and wanted to post up some pics.I was at my local Toyota dealer today getting my 16 Tacoma serviced.I thought it was a truck but when I looked in saw that is was a 4Runner! They said it was waiting for a carb and they couldn’t find parts??? It’s been there for a week or so.

Not a 4Runner. Trekker. The predicessor of the 4Runner, though that one doesn't look right.

Also round headlights say 1979-81.

See what I mean. The one you posted is weird. Its different in the shell and the tailgate.

Could be a Wolverine or Trailblazer...both “prototype” 4Runners...definitely not a Trekker.

Could also be a homemade attempt.

Trailblazer?...look how the fiberglass comes past the bed rails on the sides.

Edit: apparently, a Breaker-Breaker...never heard of that one.

That is one cool Toyota!

If the round headlights are original and not a conversion, I'd say 1979-1981.

This is not a 4Runner or a Trekker, but one of the more rare conversions like the Wolverine, Trailblazer, or the Breaker-Breaker.

To me, it looks the most like the Breaker-Breaker.

See this Autotrader article: Autotrader - Third Party Conversions led to the Toyota 4Runner

Wow, super rare and in SUPER nice shape.
Yes, I agree on the Breaker- Breaker.

I have a Trekker and had heard of the Wolverine and Trail Blazer, but had never heard of this one.

Cool!

I have carbs for it.
Also, Chinese re-pop carbs available on eBay for less than $100.

Definitely a breaker-breaker. I saw one of those for sale on cL a while back they’re pretty cool!

So the Toyota dealer can't find Aisin carb parts? Maybe you should hook them up with Beno's info.
Carb parts/kit not available from Toyota.
Carb itself may be available, but $$$.
Parts store rebuild kits are available and alright.

I think someone doesn't want to get their hands dirty, probably the dealership too. Who takes a carberated vehicle to a dealership anyway...
