80's of Orange County, Ca unite!

I will try to make this. Those that are worried about the "pin striping" should be prepared to acquire some :D as the trails have quite bit of sagebrush/chaparral lining them. These shots are from Wildomar a little over a year ago...

Nice pics, Mike. That is exactly what my :princess: needs to see so she understands the impending lift that is coming to the LX.

Looks like some fun! Glad I'll be in town, and the wife hasn't even arranged a golf game for that Sunday yet!

I'm in....
Anyone want to go mtn biking on the San Juan trail before the cruiser get together?

cheers,
David...

I currently live in co but me wifes folks are in Orange and we are there many times a year to visit her parents. We will be in Orange much more often starting this summer as I am taking a job in Hanford Ca (by fresno). Keep me in the loop as I would love to hang out on some trail when we come to Orange while my wife visits with her mom. If I know when people are getting together i can plan our trips to the inlaws around cruiser meetings. This would be win win for me:bounce:

Absolutely! As long as they are not rabid. :D I might bring my dog too.

Date change - I had scout campout wrong. It's the 10-12th.

Count me in for the 26th!

Glad you could make it.

Mark, I think TYLER was just kidding. He's a "Cannucklehead", lives in Canada. Although, apparently, we might be able to persuade him with women, suds, and raw fish.:D

Thanks for the info Dan. I knew I should have been suspicious when I saw all that snow in the pictures of his hybrid suspension! Man, messing with the new guy.

Hi All, I have put this on my calendar, with goal of bringing the family. I'm sure I have seen some of you cruising the OC freeways. Just confirming, are we meeting at the Wildomar site or elsewhere first. If I get up early enough, might take a shortcut over Santiago Peak to Hwy 74.

I don't think anybody has mentioned which they prefer. How about meet there and bring your own food etc... If anyone objects please speak up.

I would kill to ride the San Juan but I am rehabing my leg and can't make it up it yet. :o The Bullit is mourning all the flatness. I will have to stick to climbing hills in the 80 for now.

Alright this time for real. I forgot a few written down on the desk.

Thanks for all the work organizing this, Mark. This is a good idea. I'm looking forward to being able to put faces to the names of some of the folks who hang out on Mud.

You are welcome Dan. I am looking forward to meeting everyone as well. I am worried though, my cruiser is in the body shop and it is supposed to rain all next week which means no painting cars with the humidity and moisture they won't dry. They say two more weeks that may now be after next week. Oh well, cross my fingers.

My :princess: and I are both very excited. You guys better put on your best behavior so my wife will allow me to pursue this more seriously;) . Thanks Mark for making this happen.

I am excited as well. It has been awhile since I got to wheel with fellow Toyota fans. I was stuck with Jeep Cherokee freaks :crybaby: for quite a few years and was the only one with a Yota. I am hoping I can get my wife as excited about going as yours is Smitty. The fact that she won't be the only girl in attendance will help alot. It looks like we will have a pretty good attendance. If all works out well and everyone is into it perhaps we can form an OC 80's TLCA chapter. Maybe I am being too ambitous. :bounce:

yes, i should be there

is there a nearby trail to run or are we just going to talk truck and eat yummy food?

BTW, Chik-Fil-A has the BEST chicken strips!!!

Where exactly are we meeting and how much free chicken will be there??

Also, Please bring as many sauces as possible for the 150 piece of chicken strips i will be munching on!

Thanks

:D :D :D

Approx- 1hr 45min for me coming from the north.
Im hoping for a group trail run! :D

Im not sure if someone posted the directions. If not see below.
Directions to the Wildomar OHV

Boston:

We are meeting at an OHV area; there are quite a few trails. Clownmidget's pictures above are from the area we are meeting at.

Cool!

By the reading i have done, it sounds like we need to get the "Green OHV Stickers". Is this correct?

Also, by "Meeting @ The OHV Area" i am assuming there is a parking lot at the trailhead or something?

Hey Smitty, are you bringing tons of Chicken Strips or what?! :D

Here is the little map (obviously not to scale)

I can't since we are closed and I honestly don't think that I will go spend an hour setting up and and then cleaning and then have to drive them out there and risk not serving a quality product. BUT I promise I will make it worth your while;) ! Do you go to the Chula Vista or the Oceanside CFA? I wish we had more raving fans like you in CA (or just more people that could pronounce our name). It is ok though, we are new here and we are growing our name each and every day.

I can't wait to see all the 80's out there! I know I am going to be seriously jealous of a lot of rigs.

Smit

btw - Officespace is my fav. of all time

No Sweat Smitty!

Thanks for breaking my heart jerk! :D

I try to avoid going south of the 8 unless i am going to Baja, but could swing by Oceanside on my way home from this meeting!

Are you the owner of all of them? I got a friend in Lousiana (or Mississippi cant remember) that manages a Chik-Fil-A!

Small world!

Thanks

silvercruiser,

I might be interested in riding San Juan before the meet. I just did Holy F'n Jim to Main divide to Trabuco today. Challenging loop. Trails out there are really nice right now.

Off topic, but I saw a white 80 at Cooks Corner with a Surly 1x1 on it's rack we were heading back. Anyone here?

no greensticker as those are just for ohv's that are not street legal (ie, buggies, quads, motorcycles) but you should probably be carrying a backcountry adventure pass. these are quite contentious so I won't go into the politics of if and why but the Forest Service does require them. You can get them for a day or a year and the year is a much better deal and the pass is transferrable to other vehicles.

for those that have not ventured up the Ortega Hwy from San Juan Capistrano be prepared for a very tight and twisty mtn road. On the weekends be prepared for lots of sport bikes going way too fast and a lot of weekend warrior harley owner's that have a hard time keeping their hog on the road. the turn off to Wildomar is very well marked and the road leading down to it is tight, single lane most of the way, and twisty. You go down a bit in elev from the highway so it's all downhill to the OHV park. For those that are really adventurous you can boogie past the OHV park down to Tanaja falls. I'm pretty sure the road down to it is closed to vehicles but you could bike or run it. The falls are on the headwaters of the San Mateo Creek, the one that dumps into the Pacific at the Trestles just south of San Clemente, north of Camp Pendleton. Just some neat geography. There might actually be a small amount of water coming over the falls now but I don't know.
