80 vs H3 trail off

I would love to go out with you guys, but I don't have the opportunity to take any time off right now. It's really unfortunate because I would love to see what my stock 91 (on 235/75 15s) could do compared to that Hummer. It would most likely be a humbling experience, but I have been impressed on what my 80 can do up on Larch Mountain so far.

Ah, the lovely China Wall. Your vids are a classic demonstration of the difference between lockers and limited slips. Limited slips, and this is going to be shocking, slip.

That shot of the H3 just trying to get up to the China Wall obstacle is maybe the best example I've ever seen of the deficiency of relying on slip to get traction.

Hummer is trying to respond to the Rubicon jk with their coming H2 package, too bad you can't get Toyota in the game. But hey, we get ATRAC :meh:

Ya know sometimes driver skill has something to do with it.

In this case, it was all locker.;p However the wall was the only spot I had to turn the dial all day. We were patient with the H3 for most of the day.

There's a Youtube video that shows how "good" the H3 are. The Hummer takes off and as soon it hit the trail the tie rods break!! WOW!!! What a piece of @#$%!!:D

cmadness, why does your truck sound blown in the vid?

really want to be there for this!! the only H3's we have around here are either on 24in. spinners or being driven by someone who will tell you they needed this because they live in the country.(45 ft. off the pavement)
would like to see how they do in a real world test. not a mag review or TV promo.

haven't gone out, tomorrow would be the day if it happens, I'm meeting with a couple guys tonight and hopefully can nail something down. But it is the middle of the week and it would me a Ferris Bueller day off for whoever takes me out.

Well don't forget they did trash a collectable ferrari in that movie :D

The Hummer HX (out in 2009) is not based on the H2 or H3. It's it's own creation. It's also IFS and IRS so it should be interesting to see how it keeps up with a Wrangler.

I was drinking beer, the other guy's drink tasted like Robitussin DM.

LOL! It was Jager-Rockstars... So I guess your half right! Thanks for the drinks, again... You didn't have to do that.

Anyway, I'm bailing out of work and noon and we will see what that H3 can do... it was going to be for fun, now it's to shut Shotts up! :flipoff2:

oh hell! with creepersleeper behind this, this ought to be great!

Now I know that this is a Toyota forum and its great to bash the H3 but this is really an apples and oranges comparison. You are comparing a fully locked Solid Axle 80 against an H3 with limited slips and an IFS front end with damn near no flex. Had this comparison been between a locked 80 and an H3 with the Adv. package with the 4.10 low range trans case and the rear locker the performance between the 80 and H3 would have been much closer.

I have been on trail runs with both FJ cruisers w/mild mods and H3s with the Adv package. The H3s walked all over the FJ cruisers. Would an h3 w/ the adv. package outperform an 80 - probably not. However, the fj cruiser is a much more fair comparison.

WELL SAID!

I can also tell you this:

Take a STOCK unlocked H3 and compare to a STOCK unlocked 80 and STOCK unlocked 100 (no AHC) and the H3 WILL EAT THE CRUISERS LUNCH!

Crappy approach and departure angles on the Cruisers alone will stop them in their tracks while the H3 fairs on.
