Doing the rear heater delete and like most have found, getting the Gates green stripe is almost impossible.

I spend a lot of time on McMaster's website and they never give brand names but often going by description you can figure it out. Like their constant tension hose clamps are Breeze clamps, etc. Well they had a coolant hose listed with a description of black w/green stripe. I thought those sneaky bastards so I order half a dozen feet at $9/ft. When it arrived I was very surprised to find it is definitely not Gates hose, but it is incredibly heavy duty.

Anyone know anything about this stuff? Thermoid by HBD. Should I try and make it work or keep looking?

Possession is 9/10ths of the law. You got it, might as well run it. You could start yet another trend in the 80 series.

Looks like the marine stuff I use. Marine is prabably just industrial like this. They make it steel reinforced and non. Just replaced the original hoses on my 93 302 ford marine engine. Not because they where leaking just thought it was time after 23 years.

Just personal preference. I am fine with silicon for vacuum lines and intercooler/charge piping but I don't care for it with coolant.

Why not use silicone hose?

Yeah that's sounds about right, it has a heavy duty woven outer like you would see in marine or heavy equipment applications. I am going to see how it flexes for the loop out of the heater core and if it works I will just run it.

You can find green stripe easy if you buy 50' at a time but who wants to spend $160 on more hose than they'll use in a life time?

BTW what do you have against silicone? Gates makes a bas@ss Durion in blue, is it the color that rubs you the wrong way?

Any recent photos of the beast?

Nothing new, Peter from Hypertune emailed me on Oct 19th and told me the Manifold was done and he was going to be shipping it to Titan Motorsports soon, so once they get it and send it to me, I will have it in my hands. Right now just trying to finish school stuff up, before Thanksgiving and Christmas really get in the way.

I believe Napa Yellow Stripe (fleetflex) is built by gates to their specs. Its avail by the foot (about 3.00a ft, maybe less if you order online).

Like said above, try the stuff you have and see if it works.

Oh yeah I guess I could update that part at least. I did use that Thermoid hose and did my rear heater delete. It is some very tough stuff. The outside wrapping just laughed at a razor knife. I ended up using a hacksaw to cut through the wrap and hose. I doubt it will really be given a proper test considering this engine will be coming out again in a short enough time that no real longevity assumptions will be able to be made. But I do think it is really good stuff if people are looking for more expensive options. haha.

And for the rear heater delete you only need about 2' and 6 clamps.

You might remember the project my friend and fabricator Marc was pulled onto while working on my manifold earlier in the thread. It made a few runs out in Texas recently. In 1500ft it went 205mph! Haha

Well looks like Marc is finally finished with his little side job and can get back to my important work!!

This little guy only made 2400hp. Lol

Crazy. Can't imagine what that has to feel like.

Yeah that is pretty absurd. A Camaro/Mustang will probably run 135-140mph and a car that most people consider very fast like the GT-R will do about 150mph stock in the 1/2 mile, to do 205mph in that same distance is nuts.

Good to see that I want to make 1/3 as much power with 6/10 as many cylinders. haha.

Crazy. Can't imagine what that has to feel like.

Not trying to steal business from NLXTACY but OREILLY Auto carries Gates, has some greenstripr in stores and can get any size in stock.

Yeah I went to two Oreillys I called specifically asking if they had 5/8" green strip, both told me yes, so drove in. First one was just normal rubber hose, I told the guy, "Hey this isn't green stripe". "It's all the same" was the reply I was given back. The other one I stepped up to the counter, had them cut me 6' and as he was ringing it up I looked at it and it was 3/8". So yeah I will just order it from people that DO know what the hell is going on. Lol
