I drove my 80 from Indy to Baja (2400 miles), 3 days, days 4 and 5 consisted of drinking beer on the beach and not moving... And that was in a 92, 3FE powered, no cruise control 80...
I drove from Glacier National Park 21 miles from the Canadian border to my home in West Hills 21 hours straight only stopping for gas, piss and Starbucks (not in that order) and did it all in just under 22 hours.
Of course its not, why ruin it with economical sense?
Nothing about this build makes any economical sense...which is why I love it!
Lets break it down...
Gas: shipment cost so not sure how much gas vs shipment is but either way you're payin'
Hotel: nope because I can get a night in Iowa and drive straight thru
Food: hmm, I've lost 44# since last year so that is minimal now, tho Starbucks...
Modest wage: wage? For what?
Plane tickets: yeah, but only to the truck. My folks are in the Triad area in North Carolina so I just need a ride there then I can take care of flight back.
Otherwise...yeah it totally wouldn't work

It is 1830 miles to middle Iowa from Portland. So your 20-21 hour trip you would have to average over 90mph. Lol
The gas bill for holding an 80 at 90+mph across the Rockies alone would be the cost of this build. Lol
If you're skipping out of your life and doing something for me that would not be free. Hell I can't even sell this ARB bumper to someone because I feel like they are hauling my junk away, let alone let someone take on that kind of full time job.
It will ride on the back of some truck and be treated like some 20 year old derelict I am sure, but all that could be changing soon

You could have them stop in Kansas City!...I'll find the driver, have a chat with him, remove the bumper and he won't have to take it off the truck! I'd even drive up to a truck stop in Des Moines to meet him.......

There were only around 8,000 LX 450's produced that year. 20 years later, how many rust free black ones do you think are left that may come up for sale? I can't believe I am saying this, but Joey may be the safest means of getting your new LX home

Yeah I've heard the horror stories too. But I've used vehicle transport on three different occasions and other than one time them getting the pick up date waaaay wrong, everything else was effortless.
And then there was the guy in Florida that sold his truck and the carrier destroyed the front axle and he ended up paying for part of it because he was a nice guy. What risk are you willing to take? this truck does have lockers and it is driveable, so you KNOW the truck driver will be taking it down and test driving it and playing with it in the parking lot!
He lives four blocks from me. Even though I have yet to meet him, it felt personal. Totally sucky situation.

Any updates on your transmission build. I think the supra trans builder ATF SPEED feel through, is IPT an option?
I'm still stuck in an A750f. Almost baught a wrecked 2005 4Runner but the more I think about it an fj100 would be the best beat and the same/similar transfer case from what I can tell. Then it's only figuring out the front adaption. Wrecked fj100's are hard to come by. And still not cheap.

Transmission build kind of stalled with ATF Speed. I was having a very hard time getting a yard to deliver a transmission to them and they weren't wiling to go and get one. They have A340's on hand and allow people to buy and return the cores, but they saw zero demand for an A343F transmission and really didn't want to spend the time doing it even if I paid for the transmission.
SO I kind of let it go BECAUSE this build is not supposed to be happening!
I am a full-time student in school right now with no job. The fact I am taking on a project while living in a high-rise loft with no garage and I have to pay $150/month just to park each extra vehicle, and the fact I already have a mini storage in Utah and I will need a mini storage here in Virginia is all just so asinine that I am still not sure wtf I am doing. lol
On a side not, Kelford delivered and they really do a crazy packing job. A big box, paper, another box, bubblewrap, 2 more boxes, bubblewrap, cams! My box opener in Utah thought it best to leave them wrapped since it was such a good job. ha.
But when I do the transmission it will be ATF Speed and not IPT..... I like the idea of the A750F, but there are even less parts developed for it than the A34x series. I also ready the A750F baskets were moved to cast aluminum to save weight, there is some definitely pluses but how do you control the transmission? I think the 100 series ecu is going to be looking for a lot of data that you won't have and as of today there is no controller for it. There are 2 companies that said they are working on it and even a log thread on a DIY site about someone that was going to tackle it but they all died.
