Is that a custom made spare tire cover/bag?
No not really - widely available, I think, in South Africa (where I'm from originally, mostly ;) ).

They come in various sizes, to fit 33 or 35 inch tyres for example, with or without logos on them

Hello ,

My name is Justin , I bring you #248... VIN number 0000248. This might be one of the oldest fj80's on the road still.
If anyone has an older VIN post up. I'm curious how many early ones there are out in the world.

Here are some pics of #248 in moab

Just bought this today!

1. 1990 HDJ71
2. Goose
3. I think I'll name it Clyde
4. 201,xxxkms
5. Has 4" lift, 35x12.5R15 tires, factory winch, factory lockers f/c/r, hks turbo timer
6. Daily driver here in Okinawa until I come back to the states. It'll get rock sliders, tire carrier, better stereo, and I'll most likely change the steering wheel to a wood Nardi.

Couple cool things, comes with factory tool kit, factory winch controller, both in factory bags... center console has an icebox?!? Looks factory. Cruise control! Sunroof. New paint last year. Muffler had a hole so the shop is doing a new downpipe and exhaust for me in the price. Also have heated seats? Totally not needed here.

155k. I bought it with 144k
SC, OME heavies with 1.25 front spacer, ARB front bumper with Warn 12k, 4x labs rear bumper, snorkel, dual batteries, hand throttle
It sat for (I'm guessing) several years so there is a lot of basic maintenance i've been taking care of THANKS to MUDD.
Weekend fun, camping, Snowboard trips with the fam.
I'm a recovering Jeep owner. Always loved 80's and found myself in a position to buy a well built rig.

Great looking truck! You running a 285 on there? I'm still playing catch up on how much lift/spacer with tire sizing. This forum has saved me from a lot of redundant questions!

Thanks
Yes 285 for now. I'm running OME 2.5 lift with a 1.25 spacer I plasma cut and put in the top of the can in front. It keeps the bump stop in the same place. I'm also running 1.5 wheel spacers.

Lummie: 1997 FZJ80

Hi everyone. For the past year and a half I've been wheeling my '14 LX 570 on the trails. At first I was okay with a few scrape marks on the bumper and the pin stripping from brush but I've always felt like I couldn't really enjoy off-roading 100% if I'm constantly worrying about damaging the LX. So yeaterday I picked up a triple locked 1997 FZJ80. It's getting some basic maintenance done at my friends shop as well as a set of K02's. I hope to have steady progress over the next few months. So as some body once said, "Here we go..."

Here's a couple photo of my 200.

Heading back to my buddies shop right after we bought it.

1997 40th Anniversary Edition
It's just kinda going by its eponymous "The Land Cruiser" because it's kinda a tough name to beat.
133K Miles
Bought it from Maine early spring 2016. Picked it up, enjoyed it, and shipped it out West summer 2016. 2017 is about bringing it into great condition and 2018 will be about adding a couple of fun things. Already bought some items from some MUD members and psyched to keep on that train.
1/2 the time it's about driving a gaggle of kids around and 1/2 the time (hopefully) will be used for climbing trips and adventures and the other 1/2 of the time it's just fun to drive around.
Registered on MUD to be a part of and support the community. Thanks!

1. 1997 FZJ80 40th Anniversary Edition. Factory front and rear lockers. Antique Sage Pearl. #2154
2. Chris
3. Moose
4. 128K
5. Completely stock and unaltered when I bought her in September 2016. It had only had 20k miles put on it in the last 10 years, so the tires were dry rotting. I've owned 40's, 60's, 100's and 200's . This rig is in such good condition with no major modifications that i am basically going to keep it fairly stock looking. I did put a set of 33" Goodyear Wrangler A/T's on it. Replaced the factory stereo with a Joying Android stereo system including a USB 4G connection so I can stream Pandora and have weather / real time topo maps in the rig. Has GPS also for street maps and the topos. Added a bluetooth ODBII connector to stream engine data to the stereo display. Pulled out the seats and carpet and lined the whole floor with sound deadening FatMat RattleTrap padding. Added Bilstein 4600 shocks.

6. Daily driver. Time travel.

176K, OME J springs w/ fox 2.0 shocks. manafre drop brackets plan on installing the ome caster bushings) 4.88's with 315 cooper ST Maxx's,

internal storage shelving, in dash CB, second battery tray installed. running slees wiring harness with Philips lights...huge difference

things to do still-
deal with intermittent P0401 cel, already have parts on hand, but been lazy
get rid of drop brackets, install ome bushings
distributor o-ring replace
get sliders and skid plates...cruisin offroad
roof rack, full length
replace various door seals, window runs
install antenna whip
fix rear locker, recently stopped working
7 pin mod
wire up second battery
snorkel?

I was a former jeep guy years ago, 2000 XJ with a 5 speed. 5 inch rubicon/ome lift, 33's, 4.56's, d44, armor, lockers, all that stuff.
fell out of that phase of life in my late 20's, bought a 05 Tacoma, 4 banger 5 speed, put a simple 5100 lift on the front and 1" block in the rear with 265's and drove the hell outta that for years. started my love for Toyota's. sold that for a 97 T100, great truck, kept that simple too. sold for an 08 tundra, still have that. running 6112's, camburg UCA's, method roosts with 295/70r18's, CB +2 shackle out back with icon shocks. its super nice. not really into beating my s*** up anymore, it only sees forest roads.

was looking for a 60 series originally, test drove a few, then got turned on the 80 series. love it. bought this as a third vehicle, family river rig, overland camping, flyfishing adventure etc... but now I drive it more than the tundra. I absolutely love it and plan on NEVER getting rid of this.

i'm amazed at how well built and over-engineered the cruiser is. up in northwest WA, if anyone ever wants to do a meet-up!
