I'll get the plate mounted at the very least this weekend. I don't have the air gauge to install yet. I'm going to have to pull the console to run the wires so it'll take me all day sunday out in the valley heat.
Do you know which air gauge you are going with yet?

Hmm, not sure I'd like that kind of light shining up towards the windshield.
It will be set up to only come on when the pump is on. The York is going to be on a dash switch and I'm really only going to use it for airing up and for air tools on the trail if needed. Would only be on towards the end of the trail to start filling up the tank so it shouldn't be that big of a distraction.
Don't care about fire or water.
Pistol size.
Definitely want combination. Don't want to keep up with another key. That's a deal breaker for me.

No worries. A combo lock changes the design too much to work it in. It would have to be two different lids and the die costs me $650. Not gonna pay that twice unless far more people wanted the combo.
Wouldn't most of us keep the key to box on our key chain? What if we need to access our locked lock box while we're driving? We'd have to stop, take the keys out of the ignition and unlock the box. Just a thought.
@SickInTheTread - good point. But I think I'd only have it locked while out of the vehicle. If there were an inexpensive but quality biometric lock this would be the perfect application. I've not found one for another project I'm working on, but if I do, this would be another great place for it. Simple fingerprint opens the lock, wow, so simple.
This may sound like a stupid question @NLXTACY , but I thought this box is being designed for the lower compartment of the center console, is that not right ? Just noticed the dimensions on Post #1 and it seems to me that the intention is to put it on the upper compartment.

Those were inner dimensions for the LX version. Due to cost I'm going to do the LC version first. The inner dimensions have not been given yet. And yes, these are ONLY for the lower console where they can be bolted in.

I don't think most of us need to pull a gun while driving...I think most of us just want a safe secure spot to store some stuff...just IMHO
