Ok folks quick update. Made a couple of modifications based on the plaster casting I did. Sometime tomorrow or Wed I will be doing the plaster casting for the LC 80s. Then its the early 60s and early 100s. Here is what the final is looking like. The bosses will be adjusted just a little bit to be sure that these will fit right into place without new hardware. I've ordered the Medeco tumblers as recommended so that I can play around with them. Its likely I will be going that route. I'm looking at getting dual key'd sets because I have an idea for a locking lid for the F.E. Mounts so it would be nice to have the same key for both ;)

Anyway, here is how the final piece will look. This will be going to my metal shop in the next day or two.

Right on.

So at some point, will you be willing to provide exterior sizes for each model for those of us with some extra stuff in the console to pick one for off-label usage?

Yes although both 80s will have sloped sides so it's not a perfectly square box. It would be tapering out towards the top. Not a lot but it's there. The taper adds to the security because it further prevents prying. As soon as the proto sizing are verified I'll give exact dimensions. For right now if everyone can give me the height of their firearm laying flat that would help. Model and height, width and depth. More than anything I want to make sure I'm not too shallow. I think I'm ok but just in case.

Thanks @NLXTACY !

ive been thinking about designing one that would suit my needs out of cardboard and heading to my local fabricator. one that can possibly hold a smaller cb and have cupholders

I was heading down that path as well. It didn't take long before I realized I was making too expensive to fully suit my needs. So I'll continue playing with the stock console.

oooooppppsss...for some reason I thought you only did the consoles.

I'm concentrating on those that are retaining their stock console. I'm NOT going to be making a console myself. Too many players.

Currently I have the APUs, the liners and now the Lock Boxes. There are still a few more projects that I will be announcing for the console. Nothing soon. Still fine tuning. ;)
