Man those seats would be nice for the extra leg room. Wish they were closer.

Well after 8 years of abuse my Tom Wood’s double cardon front driveshaft started to make the noise. Going to send it off to them to have them rebuild it. Free labor. Just parts to buy.

Center diff lock life for a little while.

I bought a 40th in sage that I had been chasing for years. Put an end to my LS swapped LX project because it became available right in the midst of it and I could only do one of em. So, My friend Terry took advantage of my Slee lifted, Terrain Tammer rebuilt axles, powerstop peformance brake, 96 LX and had Rob put a rebuilt 1FZFE in it.
Due to this head gasket separation at the top of the timing chain cover, 40th is getting a new power train.

So did you swap out the Lexus wheel for it? Will the airbag still work?

So did you swap out the Lexus wheel for it? Will the airbag still work?

Yes. I used a wheel out of a 2005 IS300. Cruise switch is wired a little different but plugs in. Will need to swap a few wires when I get the cruise up and going again. The airbag would probably require no more than swapping the pigtail from the cruiser airbag to the IS airbag but I’m not too terribly worried about airbag being functional on a 21 year old truck. Odds are if I’m in a accident the Land Cruiser one wouldn’t go off anyways. I just wanted a whole steering wheel again. Happened to be an IS at pull-a-part with a good wheel and bag so I jumped on it. In fact I bought the whole steering column. May try to swap the turn signal stalk and wiper stalk as well.

Cool. And don’t forget you need to make the paddle shifters work too.

Paddle shifters will not work with a 4l80. So for now they are just a conversation piece. Later on down the road might use them for some laughing gas

6l80 upgrade in the future.

Not likely. That would require a new harness, computer and t case adapter. Not to mention a 6L80 trans. My 4l80e is doing great so far.

Finally fought the procrastination and started the dynomatting. Well it’s not real dynomat it’s Amazon knockoff Noico sound deadening. I can’t tell a difference in the real stuff vs the noico knockoff.

From my highly technical knock test which consists of me knocking on the uninsolated panel and then insolating it and repeating the knock test, I would say it’s going to cut down a lot on the cab noise.

Rear ceiling and fender wells done:

How hard is it actually to replace the oil pan arch seal?

While the 80 is down, I’m working on eliminating the oil leaks which are:

Oil pump seal
Arch seal
Rear pinion

The thirds are about to come out for a 4:88 swap and the oil pump is no issue as it’s a minor leak and straight forward.

My main question is since the engine has 220k on it, original HG, and I was planning on a rebuild in the next year or so; is the seal worth the effort to change it vs let it leak until I pull the engine for rebuild?
