So, Did you know that your LC has a catch-can on the bottom of the air cleaner that should be cleaned out occasionally?

I'm new to LandCruisers, so I didn't.

Today while dis-assembling my LC for engine removal, I an across a contraption on the bottom of the air cleaner:

I'm new to cruisers, but I've never seen something like that before. I had to open it up to see what was inside:

Yuck.

DYK Key Fob/Remote:
You can get a thicker battery for longer life
You can stack two thin batteries to increase voltage/extend the range
You can extend the range by putting the remote to your chin
You can extend the range by extending or rerouting the antenna
If you don't open the door in 30 seconds it will relock. (My chirp doesn't work so If I'm not sure if it locked or unlocked when I'm walking away, I just press the button and it will either lock, or unlock then automatically relock so I'm good either way)

DYK that if you don't want others driving your LC you can disconnect the connections under the drivers seat (after making it comfortable for you), and then it will "likely" not be in the right spot for others to drive comfortably.

Page one, are those links on the remedies in yellow? If so, no worky. I'm looking for the seat motor cap and the cupholder! Someone have a compass and a boot to get me to the link?! Thank you ahead of time

Anyone know bolt size for the DS foot rest thing? I misplaced mine. Dealership says it is unavailable. I'm sure it's used somewhere else in the truck. Anyone have an idea? Thanks.

Disregard. Talked to the dealership and it costs $1.03. Ordered.

Did you know...sometimes its just easier and cheaper than expected to order from your local dealer? :flipoff2:

I always order from my local dealer. They give me a good discount and will have the parts typically the next day. Plus I want to support the local Toyota dealership so they will continue to be in business for when I NEED them.

I appreciate everything that Beno and Cruiser Dan do for the LC community. Not all dealerships will give a discount to TLCA members. But as long as my local dealer does I will buy from them. Granted, I have to come on Mud and ask everyone what parts I need... :flipoff2:

There's a DYK! Did you know that some dealerships will give you a 20-25% discount for being a TLCA member? Ask the Parts Manager or General Manager for the discount. They know that Cruiserheads are freaking addicts that prefer to spend their money on OEM parts and are willing to pay the price. Even at 25% discount they still make good money. And it's just good business for them to have good, clean, maintained Land Cruisers running the streets. When I tell people my 80 is 23 years old they freak the hell out! "No Way is it that old! And it still runs?!? I need a Toyota." is usually the response.

I found my red hazard switch in a 1991 FJ80 parts truck I had.

I grabbed the glovebox out of the same truck. Never had I seen the transfer case shift instructions on the front.

Did you know (taken from another thread)...
The radio, clock and the map light all have one thing in common: they are all fed by the "DOME" fuse circuit. It's a 10A fuse you'll find in the fuse block under the hood. The DOME circuit is the BLUE/YELLOW wire and should always be "hot" when the key is off.

The radio and clock are also both fed by the "CIG" (15A) fuse circuit (GRAY wire). This circuit is the "accessory" circuit and is only "hot" when the key is in the accessory or "on" position.

I'd look behind the fuse panel (the one in the dash) and see what kind of carnage has been done back there.

Did you know that OEM 80 series brake pads are 10mm thick and the wear indicator starts touching the rotors at 3mm +/-?

Did you know that it takes about 30 minutes to change the brake pads on an 80 series? And that it's possible to do it without removing the wheel. But removing the wheel makes it a heckuva lot easier.

The stk stereo unit (LX) will cut out if you have the volume cranked up for too long, but will reset after a few seconds.
