Ok I might have been working on something else too. ;)

Since this mount would be utilizing the upper 3rd row seat belt bolt I didn't really like losing the ability to utilize that bolt since it's probably the strongest points inside the vehicle.

So I will be supplying longer 10.9 hardware and then I'm making a bunch of these anchors in 30* and 90* that will use that bolt hole and be actually useful.

That anchor should be a good stand alone product for those who don't plan on buying the whole unit or only one unit. Who couldn't use a good anchor in that area for hanging stuff?

You're totally right. It was for this in mind but no reason it can't be used anywhere that was a seat belt bolt.

:meh: You can buy those all day long for nothing.

Whats funny is I could not find any in 7/16" until about 10 mins ago. $1.90 :*(

Edit: just bought a handful to compare.

I don't remember what thread, but I bought some to replace the rear upper seat belt mount bolts with the "eye-let" ones from some racing company they use for harnesses. Anyway shipped to the door where like $9 for 2.

I like the look of yours better but also need the bolt, the eye+bolt seems like a cheap win. Unless im missing something.

Yeah I was the one that found those. I was originally going to use those (I have a dozen in a bag somewhere) but the D-Pillar design necessitated a longer shank length then was made in that style. It was a non-starter. Thats why I started making these anchors. That and all the anchors I found were too small a bolt hole and/or were curved/dimpled for rock mounting. I need flat.

Ah, I see :)

Well, I be damn.

That's pretty bad ass. Much, much, cooler than I originally thought. I'll be in for one of these after you finalize the design.

Btw, large hoody fits perfect and adventure pics with it will follow. Thank bro.

This is freaking awesome!! I can't wait!!!

Got the Backcountry Gear order in to compare with my anchor mounts. A couple take aways:

* these are about half the thickness of my anchor mount
* the mounting surface has three dimples which work great on rock but act as ball bearings on a flat surface like steel
* these could absolutely work if you wanted them to but I really don't like the feel and the quality
* the wrap around opening is great for threading in a rope, but not much else
* I'm going to move forward with producing mine because they will look and feel more substantial
* I will be welding a spacer to the bottom of a few for the bare D-pillar mounting

I like overkill. I also like that these are made for the purpose they will be used. Nice work!

Not trying to poo poo your idea and possible new product, but....

While 1/2 the thickness of your product they are plenty strong. I've trusted my life (literally) to those products. While overkill is often cool, at the thickness you've made them you could prob pull the d-pillar down with them.

I'd think the dimples could be removed with a minute or two on a grinder

The wrap around openings were never designed to take rope as that would chafe the rope. They are designed to take caribiners or a threaded quick link. The warp around design allow pull from a several angles.

The spacer could make the differene though.

Anyway just my .02 based on my experience in rock climbing.
