OKAY. Braving the frame repairs.

Step 1: remove rear axle

Road block 1: springs like where they are! Photo of rear spring, front hanger. This bolt should slide out correct? Remove the 2 retainer bolts then good to go? Not budging… torch and PB…suggestions?

Looking at the mushroom on that bolt, just cut it off with a sawsall or cutting disk. You will be replaced the bolt in any case, along with the bushings

If you use a sawsall, get a couple Diablo brand carbide tipped blades. Cuts are fast and easy.
100% works, just had to use one on mine. I tried torching first and it just made it worse. I used a fine metal short sawzall blade Diablo brand from Home Depot.

As others have suggested, don't even fight it at this point. Take a sawzall or cut-off blade to it and replace the pin

Be careful not to damage the spring and/or the hanger, fortunately there is a 3/16" gap to slide the blade down through as you cut.

New pins are easy :D
A few of the options we carry

(We also have the Dobinsons variants in stock)

I’ve watched a couple videos on removing frame rivets. Any suggestions on most effective way? Cutoff wheel vs rivet drill bit tool?

Good morning,

Man I am scratching my head trying to find someone who sells a Polly body mount kit for my 79 with the nuts and bolts needed. I’ve seen several kits but none complete with the needed nuts and bolts…. Any suggestions?

Actually, I guess if I could get the length of the bolts needed I could grab some grade 8s from a local hardware store.

Little by little. Sanded and saved the original headlight cups. Made this cool Rootbeer brown for the retainer ring. Loved the idea of the new emblem in the grill. DIY Rock sliders painted and installed. Sem bed liner on the steps. Sanded the mess outta this Facebook find of a swing out tire/cooler carrier

Could anyone tell me what caps I would need for these two openings if I was going the route of an electric pump? I don’t think anything from my old tank is salvageable 😞
