Took both rides to a cars and coffee at my friends new shop on Sunday  Then we drove to Oak Glen for some food at Apple Annie’s before heading home.

This was SUPER helpful. I replaced the larger track as my 40’s window would not roll all the way up due to this defect. At the time, I searched for a YouTube video for help but found very little…. I only addressed the obvious issue. The window now goes all the way up (improvement), but the motion is not great. Wish I’d seen your video first! Replacing the other components would have been much better. Thanks for the content!!

Happy new years guys!

I forgot to mention that the smog tech was worried that the FJ40 smelled rich at idle. Admittedly it did smell like fuel out the tailpipe, but it was like that last time. The idle was a bit low according to his computer. So, I bumped it up from 580’ish to 650, and passed the emissions test no problem…

The last smog test my vacuum secondary didn’t work and it was idling off the main jets. Now the carb is all sorted out and I spent hours doing the lean drop adjustments.

Should I just leave it alone? I always figured older cars smelled like gas and it was normal. Maybe the tech is used to new cars with cleaner emissions haha

IMO- if it passed, leave well enough alone and enjoy it unless you have nothing better to do with your time.

Edit: mine is dialed in and has a rich smell too at times despite the numerous lean drops I have done.

Picked up a new accelerator pump from city racer. I need to swap it out and see if it stops stumbling off idle. I’m not a fan of that Hygrade carb rebuild kit or it’s parts at all…
