Better pic today. The last time I did this the fenders were off. It was a wee bit easier to maneuver around the engine bay.

Added the adapter for the for the DUI. crimped/heat shrink x 2. This adapter is a score. Pink to 12V switched and the green is for a tach. New crimping tool and wire stripper makes this an easy job.

Added new plugs. NGK's were the local parts store offering.

Had a little difficulty initially. The cap IE "The big Mellon" is at the limit of fitment. During my initial adjustment, I had to remove/loosen the cap in order to rotate the distributer. Once you clear the cap attachment latches, you have some breathing room to make adjustments. I hit the boots, per manufactures recommendation, with a little dielectric grease.

Buttoned everything up last PM. Tried to upload a vid but my technical acumen starts and stops with pictures.

I'll try and throw the timing light on it later today. Starts easily and seems to have a much-improved throttle response.

I may make the trip back across the State later. If so, it will be a few days before I can re-engage on the mule. 70* day yesterday so the garage door was up, which made for plenty of air and light for the garage check ride on the DUI installation. This morning its 30* and snowing. Soooo, I'm in no rush while the weather is in bi-polar mode. When I get back the top and doors are going into summer hibernation, which should really make those heavy springs come alive on the WV secondary road system . Last chore before the official start of the beach season is a Trans/T-case swap planned for early spring.

Always remember…..you are smarter than your 40

That sir, is debatable...

The mule, left to its own devices, is one crafty character. I've seen it lure a covey of unsuspecting co-eds on a summers day joy ride around the lake and talked me into paying for the gas. So, who's smarter than who??? ;)

My '67 Mustang convertible has similar magick powers.

It seems that if I turn the key in public, some comely wench appears in my passenger seat wanting a ride....

Reminds me of an evening a few years ago. I had the top and the doors off. My wife and I were out on a “date night” She said “ I bet you enjoy the attention from the girls while your driving this thing” to which I replied “they never notice this old thing” we stopped at a red light next to two co-eds who proceeded to tell me how much they loved my car. Then I got “the look”

Mule gets a new pipe.

Didn't get much accomplished today on the Mule. Spent the late morning and afternoon cleaning the garage and the man cave. I did receive a package from City Racer which helped with a plumbing issue. This takes care of the space issue I ran into by adding the new dizz. I gave it a little extra Neanderthal coaxing to bend the angle slightly up.

Test fit the lower air cleaner assembly to make sure I had enough clearance. Looks like it's going to work. Sniper is on "pause" waiting on a post filter and a throttle cable. Headed back to the "Big House" Sunday, the garage is getting a "Barbie play house" make over starting Monday. Don't ask, not yet anyway. Something tells me there's a story in this adventure somewhere...

My favorite part of the mule.

Thank you, CPT Ryan, ...

I just talked with a buddy of mine; he was parachute rigger by trade. So, you know, right off the bat he's of questionable moral character. I saw him at a funeral recently and he called me today. His comment was "while we were all standing at attention and taps was playing, I looked around the cemetery and thought, damn look at all these old men".

We had served with every one of them...

If you get a minute can you send me a picture of how you have the distributor hold down bracket mounted?

Look just beneath the dizz you will see the clamp. As I recall, it looks very much like a GM style hold down clamp. The D.U.I. that I purchased came with a clamp but no bolt. The bolt that came off of the old dizz was too short, so I had to pick one up local (IE Hardware store).

Sorry best photo I can pull this PM. May be able to get you a better on in the AM.

Thanks. This is how mine is. Looks the same. Reason I asked is I fixed my timing Sunday and tightened the bolt/clamp down. then I checked timing again today and it was off so I untightened the bolt adjusted timing again and really tightened it down. Hope it stays.

Yep should work.

What engine is that? Way to clean to be an F, 1.5 or 2..

That clamp looks lame. You would think that something with as vital a function as keeping your engine from blowing up, they’d put a little more thought into something that actually matches the job description.
