Took the Mule out for a short jaunt this AM for a post alternator install shakedown drive. Just a couple miles around the pond to let everything warm up. Managed to run it right up to 25MPH. Charging nicely and the “Earthquake washer” is sitting in its designated place.

Even “got a little snow” on the Coopers.

Me en’ the Mrs were discussing the Mule this AM, when out of nowhere she throws out, “Think we should get rid of that diamond plate and have “our” Mule painted”? 😳

I poured her another cup of the “Death Wish” and nodded. “Well Pumkin, only if you think we should.”😇

I’m pretty confident I’m going the sniper route. Waffling between in tank or the walbro inline. Interested to see how yours turns out.

Fer’ sure.... I’m kinda curious myself..🙄

Nicely done so far………. read through your journey (mostly the pictures if I’m honest)
Great descriptions of cruiser chores - you’ve some impressive typing skills or have a secretary that does! 🤣

It is that moment when you realize they are on board, a great moment but also scary because it takes effort to keep them on board.🤔

Thank you very much.

If you’ve meandered through these pages very far, you’ll notice a singular glaring theme throughout, I have no fabrication skill whatsoever. You could say I am the court jester of the bolt on, rattle can upgrades. So what I lack in practical ability, I try to make up with “the story“. And, far as I can recall, some of it might actually be true. 🙄

So I’m killing a little time before lunch today. Unboxing some of the parts for the sniper install. Redline was the kit of choice for a couple different reasons:

1st impressions from the unboxing. Installation pros/cons coming later.
pros
1. I wanted to utilize my OE air cleaner. The semi gloss black looks very good next to the OE air cleaner.
2. IMHO it is very well done. Nicely machined surfaces and very professional looking.
3. Very well packaged and super fast delivery. I think my man in Brown was tapping on the door before I put the credit card away

cons
1. A wee bit on the costly side but, then again, what isn’t.?

My garage time is still down the road, so I’m procrastinating on the pump purchase. Noise vs quite etc etc. I’m thinking I probably won’t notice the pump over the natural ambient noise of an almost 50yr old TLC. ;)

Just doing a dry run sans gasket. I went with the “shinny” Sniper. I wanted to break up the solid black. The garage at the Lake house is small and dark, reminiscent of the old storage building.

The Sniper and the Redline Mounting surfaces fit together nicely during the mockup. I’ll end up pulling the manifold, header and clean up the heat shield. Probably going to roll with a weld in bung. Just want to make sure I can reach the O2 sensor without to much difficulty.

Butterflies seem to be seating/opening properly. I’ve read a couple reviews where that was an issue. Just wanted to double tap that before execution day. Quality control looks good. Fit n finish all look good.

That shiny finish does look real nice next to the black adapters. I was set on gold for “original looking” but am now between black or shiny.

I gotta’ tell ya.. I went down the whole color combo possiblilities, in the end, the chrom-ey was “my” personal fave. The black and the gold are righteous color combos but, the chrome will kick it under the hood.

OK, maybe a little more to the story. I have a polished valve cover. 2F bling so to speak. That was another reason for the chrome look under the Redline adapter.

I hope that gets dirty soon.

I pressed the buy button…. I went with black. I have a 2F cover to put on my F engine eventually that I had vaporblasted so it’s a matte aluminum color. Should look good with the aluminum lines and black fittings with black sniper.

Also ordered that Eastwood brake tool you mention in the other thread. Been wanting it for awhile. Since I saw you wanted it too, figured I’d get it, you can PayPal me your 2/3 and we will just keep it at my house…..

Boom....Score on all fronts. I was 50/50 black vs chrome. I’ll stop at Ryan’s to load up on my way out to the PNW to test out my investment.

You take company script for payment?

I’ll take pretty much anything. What company?

Still tapping my toe here in the Mountain State.

Placed an order with Performance Distributers Jan 28 for 1 each D.U.I. Dist/wire set. Sent a friendly reminder/inquired this AM for a status update. Spoke with cruiser outfitters via PM, Ref: clutch kit. Probably should order a Birfield kit while I’m at it. No telltale weeping yet but It’s just a matter of time. Like to have the kit on hand for the inevitable. And a new to me, trans/T-case is being currently forged in the hallowed halls of sunny Burbank. I might sit on that for awhile. Probably display it on the kitchen table this summer. Wheel it out for admiration during BBQ season.

I think Spring is right around the corner and it would be good to have the Sniper installation finished “soonly“. I’m going to “pop the top” once the weather breaks and don’t want to tie up good weather when I could be fishing...

I‘ve got a 6’er ridding on the spring trout season with @rkymtnflyfisher and I’d hate to drive to Montana to pay up if I lose 🙄.

As a card carrying member of the Old Phart Association of America, Wv Chapter, I’m not in a rush for anything but, I would like to wrap up a couple things before the thaw...

Gratuitous pic for the visually stimulated.
