Oh Tommy…You got that right!
You talkin' about F1 or us and our '40s?![]()
Would be happy to snag you from the airport or come get you from your lodgings in a Toyota of your choice (pick from my signature line) provided I’m available to do so.@RevISK
All the above more or less..
Austin is about 20 plus hours from Lower Babylon. So, in a 40 series with me in the pilot seat, that’s an Iliad level trip. Don’t get me wrong, pretty sure I’d see mythic and wondrous things on the journey like Calypso, Cyclopes and the occasional cow on the roof of a cotton house and I’d probably survive the journey down, its that return trip in stock seats that would be my undoing.
As of late, two hours in the Tundra and I’m ready for a epidural. Reckon I’d fly the friendly ski’s and ogle your 40’s when I get there.
Besides, someone has to (live) document the story…

Careful, you may have to help replace another transmission.Would be happy to snag you from the airport or come get you from your lodgings in a Toyota of your choice (pick from my signature line) provided I’m available to do so.
At 10-12 MPG I have my own doubts about any kind of cross-country trek. Do folks stash jerry cans and fuel up on the roadside or actually stop for gas every 150ish miles?@RevISK

It’s worse, I consider 1/2 near empty especially when out in west Texas, 1/3 might as well be empty. At 10-12 MPG I have my own doubts about any kind of cross-country trek. Do folks stash jerry cans and fuel up on the roadside or actually stop for gas every 150ish miles?

Gerry cans sorta suck - aux tanks on the other hand keep gas off your hands. Fuel consumption is miles per gallon in normal use, low range low pushing mud with the hubs its gallons per hour.
Boy and I are about to embark on a +/- 1,750 mile trip out west and in the 40 is the point.
Not that big of a deal. Frequent stops are good to walk and stretch.
Taking HWY 90 on the way which is sort of a back roads freeway then there is no real choice one you get to Marathon, it’s all back roads from there.Godspeed. Oughta be epic. Backroad meandering through Americana or white knuckled interstate roulette?
100% on the 1/2 empty tank in a 40 series. When you’re driving the aerodynamic equivalent of a cinder block in a stiff headwind, you tend to keep your eye on that super reliable analog gauge.
Strapped a Jerry can on initially to offset the lean on the suspension. Worked fine and has gotten me and others out of a few pickles. Not that big of a deal. Frequent stops are good to walk and stretch. Only carry Jerry cans if I’m wheeling for several days or more.
We shall see and fingers crossed that the adults start acting their age.
What is it? "It's the journey not the destination?"Bathroom breaks…Old man bathroom breaks.![]()
This. Unless you want to consume a large part of your day standing in line hoping you get in. Right @ceylonfj40nut ?or drive to Lockhart.
Yep! Lockhart. Smitty’s in particular.This. Unless you want to consume a large part of your day standing in line hoping you get in. Right @ceylonfj40nut ?
This is like talking about engine oil…Yep! Lockhart. Smitty’s in particular.
Tru dat. The oil from Smitty’s is Old school, no frills, no instagram shait, test of time place. Meat is the only center piece. The new money flava of the day places owners eat at Smitty’s. If you like synthetic oil, go to the Burnt Bean (if you can get in). This is like talking about engine oil…
